Job Description

Work with Oracle's world class technology to develop, implement, and support Oracle's global infrastructure.This position is for a Principal Software Engineer to the established Oracle Database Exadata & Cloud support team. The successful candidate will be located in United States. The team’s main responsibility is to work with Oracle's world class technology to develop, implement and support Oracle's global infrastructure & resolve highly complex technical issue.

As a member of the Technical Production Implementation/Operations team, will be responsible for Incident Management and expected to identify, analyze, and resolve engineering, business, and other data processing problems for Application to electronic data processing systems under limited supervision.

Familiar with Oracle's client’s business, projects, environments, and Oracle Infrastructure, leverages his technical and business expertise to drive customer needs within Oracle Operations, thereby increasing customer satisfaction. Suggests a variety of technical resolutions and assists in solving technical problems.

Uses in-depth knowledge of Oracle Database and Oracle Applications Architecture, Maintains, and interacts with clients, partners, and Oracle Managed Cloud teams. Utilizes knowledge in eBusiness suite Administration and Performance background and extensive client facing experience to resolve complex data processing problems.

Should be knowledgeable and hands on with respect to Oracle eBusiness Applications (R 12.2.x/12.1.x) and Oracle database (R 12c/19c), configuration changes, performance tuning and troubleshooting, Applications Security, Application Server Administration, Concurrent Manager, Oracle Applications and Oracle Database Patching and fixes, Oracle Applications Upgrade, and Oracle Database Administrations and other technical requirements for third party products and system integrations.

Supports Oracle eBusiness Applications Refresh/Cloning of environments and help resolve refresh related issues.

Creates and updates best practices and procedures in the customer's operations guide. Evaluate and analyze customer environments by assessing the system health, reviewing SRs, following up with respective queues (both in Support and MCS) on the progress of the SRs, communication with end customer on the status and adjusting the priorities based on the issues impacting the customer's ability to conduct business. Review and verify tickets to ensure the contents clearly meet the customer's needs and are completed as scheduled. Prepares regular reports to reflect the customer's major concerns and improvements. Responsible for knowing customer's key projects, critical milestones, and recurring business needs. Recommend changes to development, maintenance, and system standards.

He/she should be able to perform their assigned duties with a great degree of independence requiring minimal direction. The Engineer is expected to be a key member of the technical problem solving as well as problem avoidance team, routinely sought after to address extremely complex, critical customer issues.

This position is professional in nature and scope and requires, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent.


As a member of the IT organization, lead the design, development, modification, debugging, and evaluation programs for extremely complex internal systems. Provide expertise to analyze existing programs or formulate logic for new internal systems. Develop conversion and system implementation plans. Recommend changes to development, maintenance, and system standards.

The main role of engineer is to troubleshoot highly complex technical problems (Oracle EBS Apps and Database) requiring high level of technical expertise

  • Works directly with customers

  • Participates in weekend rotation and shifts

  • Participates in initiatives that improve overall product and documentation quality

  • Participates in product/platform testing

  • Drives improvements in product quality

  • Serves as Situation Manager on highly sensitive Customer issues

  • Consults with Management in directing resolution of critical Customer situations

  • Consults with Customers on complex use of Oracle products

  • Achieves knowledge transfer through development and delivery of training, knowledge sessions, mentoring etc.

  • Creates /reviews Knowledge Articles

  • Contributes significantly towards the “My Oracle Support” Database communities

  • Analyzes work load, determines best practices and implements changes to improve productivity

  • Proactively contributes to increasing the team efficiency by sharing knowledge, providing feedback about best practices, writing tools / utilities

Hiring Range: from $45.53 to $95.91 per hour; from $94,700 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
