Intermountain Health Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner - Connect Care Urgent Care in Topeka, Kansas

Job Description:

Connect Care is Intermountain Health's direct-to-consumer telehealth service that provides 24-hours-per-day, 7-days-per-week, 365-days-per year, virtual urgent care through video to patients throughout Utah, Idaho, Nevada and Montana.

Providers will diagnose and treat patients with low acuity urgent care conditions (cold, flu, UTI, rhinitis, etc.) through telehealth technologies. Providers will also provide appropriate triage and care coordination for patients with more serious medical problems or who require an alternate level of care, practicing within scope of licensure , national certification, education, training, and consistent with Intermountain Healthcare approved privileges and/or other aspects of the credentialing process.

This provider will work the night shift.

Essential Functions

Clinical Practice:

  • Performs patient assessment and orders tests as needed to obtain a complete and accurate record of the patient's clinical information and medical symptoms and determines a plan of care according to Intermountain Health’s guidelines.

  • Triages patients, when necessary, to a more appropriate location / level of care. Communicates clinical information promptly, accurately, thoroughly, and appropriately to other providers of patient care.

  • Provides appropriate, timely and complete documentation of clinical care. Code and bill accurately per established protocol and procedure.

  • Demonstrates an understanding and proper use of Telehealth equipment.

  • Represents Intermountain Health as a high quality, patient-oriented healthcare system.

  • Provides cost-effective treatments aligned with Intermountain Health’s standards, as applicable.

Education:

  • Conducts, coordinates, and promotes education to increase the knowledge of patients, patient’s family, and others.

  • Provides appropriate instruction based on patient needs to support the continuum of care and medical home.

  • Stays abreast of current trends in telehealth and healthcare practices, and participates in continuing medical education to ensure optimal clinical knowledge and effective patient care skill.

Required Qualifications

  • PA or APRN degree from an accredited institution with national certification.

  • Current licensure as Physician Assistant (PA) or Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) within state of practice; and eligibility for licensure in any other state as needed.

  • Three Years of PA/APRN clinical experience in a relevant setting. Eligible for State Controlled Substance License II through V.

  • Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V

  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

  • Clinical competencies: Adult and pediatric care, women's health, triage, patient education.

  • Communication written and verbal skills (comfortable on camera, calm, empathic).

  • Flexibility, problem-solving skills, ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Working knowledge of video-conferencing technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional relevant clinical experience or competencies.

  • Five years of PA/APRN clinical experience in a relevant setting.

  • Prior experience with Telehealth or similar technology.

  • Familiarity/comfort with documentation in Intermountain Health’s EMR .

  • Need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

  • Will be expected to stand or sit in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$49.86 - $76.93
