Function: Manufacturing Engineering

Title: Part-Time Student-Industrial Engineering-Waterloo IA-Partial Remote - 89772

Onsite/Remote: Partial Remote Position

The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Your Responsibilities

As a Part-Time Student-Industrial Engineering for John Deere Waterloo Works located in Waterloo, Iowa, you will:

  • Assist in the creation of sequence of events documentation including output standards to be used in baseline data for wage performance pay plans, product costing and capacity planning

  • Work with electronic tools to perform engineering functions

  • Develop plans of limited scope to support lean manufacturing

  • Participate in implementation of new manufacturing processes and technology

What Skills You Need

  • Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in Manufacturing or Engineering; others may apply

  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university

  • Graduation date of May 2025 or later

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above

  • Available to work 16-20 hours/weekly during the academic year

  • Available to work 35-40 hours/weekly during the summer

  • Must be able to commute to the work location in Waterloo IA as needed year-round

  • Able to work approximately 80% time onsite with 20% remote per Manager discretion

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Exposure to Industrial Engineering concepts such as time study and assembly line balancing

  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles for process improvements

  • Experience in the heavy equipment industry, agricultural industry or farming experience

  • Experience in project management and business planning

  • Exposure to process and line design, material presentation, cycles of imbalance and visual management
