The FBC team is constantly iterating to solve problems, co-develop solutions and deploy networks through direct engagement with the global telecoms industry, including network operators, network equipment vendors and communities such as the Telecom Infra Project (TIP).As an Open Indoor Architect, you will engage with the FBC engineering and product teammates as well as TIP Open Wi-Fi community members to design the automated testbeds and test cases for indoor converged wireless solutions. In addition, this role oversees the nightly continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD) process for the TIP Open Wi-Fi Project Group. In parallel, you will interface as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), with industry leading network engineering partners including hardware/software vendors and systems solution providers. Finally, you will work closely with network operators technical teams to understand and advise how Facebook and its partner’s contributions can be of most impact for indoor connectivity. Influence the Community Development of Open Indoor System Use Cases covering unit, functional, system, compliance and regression testing scenarios
Establish and grow strong teamwork across the TIP community and FBC testing partner engineering teams
Define and validate system software architectures
Facilitate the testing of high quality, scalable software
Incorporate industry standards and best practices for software development, networking, security, multi-tenancy, etc.
Engage directly with Network Operators, SaaS cloud providers, ODM hardware providers, application vendors (ISVs), and System Integrators (SI) technical teams as an engineering subject matter expert
Stay abreast of new technologies and automation approaches for modern, next generation networks
Lead brown-bag sessions to share your knowledge and learnings with the wider Facebook Connectivity team
Support the direction and expansion of the Solutions Engineering team, helping to scope future roles as the charter of the team grows
Willingness to work within partner - vendor facilities, able to travel up to 25% of time
10+ years C-Level experience as a networking focused software test architect - technical expert on large scale, commercial grade operational support systems (OSS), network management and/or SDN controller software systems with specific experience in large scale device provisioning and operator back office system
Knowledge of multiple programming domains such as: C++, Java/Spring, Python, Shell scripting
Knowledge of network testing and emulation platforms for wireless access technologies
5+ years of experienced with Open Source Software community projects
5+ years of experienced with Cloud deployment patters including DevOps, Cloud Native, 12-factor methodology
Hands-on related work within Community projects such as Linux Foundation, TIP, ONF, or similar
7+ years of experience providing technical leadership on and individual engineer mentoring to medium to large distributed engineering teams
Knowledge and experience with network centric software testing architecture, data model and API design - implementation
Knowledge and experience with testing micro-services architectures for network management and automation systems
Understanding of mobile and in-building wireless network infrastructure and architectures
Familiarity with evolution and recent development of cellular and Wi-Fi wireless networking
BS or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree/experience
