Aerotek Mechanical Designer in Topeka, Kansas
This person will be spending their day working within SolidEdge/Works doing 3D design work. They will be working on 2-3 projects at a time and each project can range between a couple days to a month depending on how complex the design and project.
Daily responsibilities will include the following:
Computing cost and time factors and preparing estimates for design work.
Identification, review and recommendations of potential supplier products used in the manufacturing of OEM pre-fabricated sheet metal structures. Establish and maintain supplier relationships.
Continuously review existing materials and designs for ways to reduce cost while maintaining high quality standards.
Collaboration with executives, customer service, project managers, designers, production and external customers to ensure needs are understood and addressed in a timely process.
Participate in development of new enclosure designs or customer requested modifications changes of existing enclosures.
Oversee project kick-off meetings for new projects. Provide recommendations to project managers regarding projects to help meet customer and scheduling requirements.
Review historical project cost reports to develop and implement engineering and design strategy improvements.
Work with engineering and design team to continuously improve processes.
Assist in Root Cause Analysis investigations.
Work with the production manager to continuously seek improvements for efficiency and quality in the manufacturing processes.
Perform Process Capability Studies.
Maintain department schedules and other software tools used by the engineering and design team.

SolidWorks, Pro E, or Inventor

Ideally 3+ years doing drafting or design , will look at candidates with less than 3 years especially if they have sheet metal design, design for fabrication experience or manufacturing experience.
3+ years SolidWorks of Equivalent 3D software
