Position Purpose:
The pharmacy intern will learn both clinical and business skills that will prepare them for a career in managed care pharmacy. They will primarily work with pharmacists at the health plan to analyze pharmacy trends and support clinical and operational initiatives. Some examples of experiences include reviewing a new drug and making benefit design recommendations, supporting initiatives to improve appropriate medication use and pharmacy quality. Learn about various processes and functions within the Managed Care industry and develop professionally by contributing to projects that support the business.
Duties:
Analyze pharmacy/medical claims data to improve quality or cost-effectiveness of care
Review drug information literature to make evidence-based clinical decisions
Support quality initiatives to improve appropriate medication use
Experience/Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent undergraduate coursework completed. Must be enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited university or college in a field related to the hiring department through the internship period.
Pay Range: $18-23/hour
