What you’ll be doing…

The Managed Data Services team is focused on delivering a self-service security and sharing platform to Tableau users. Via this platform, users will be available to set up security policies, sharing rules, manage metadata and audit data assets produced for consumption. This lead engineer role requires excellent technical skills and outstanding analytical and influencing skills paired with great business insight.

Join our team and build the next generation self-service data sharing and security experiences. We are starting execution on a new roadmap to allow customers to author security and sharing rules, manage and govern data assets, all via the delightful experiences Tableau is known for.

Some of the things you'll be doing include...

  • Build scalable systems that support connecting Tableau’s customers with their data

  • Contribute to architecture, design, and implementation of our next-generation product.

  • Tackle challenging engineering problems and provide world-class solutions.

  • Take end-to-end ownership of the service(s)-- from architecture inception through implementation through running in production.

  • Work with customers, Support and QA to resolve bugs and support issues.

  • Ensures that we are continuously raising our standard of engineering excellence

Who you are…

  • Master in multiple programming languages and platforms

  • 8+ years of software development experience

  • Ability to independently design and deliver large complex projects

  • Ability to provide (informal) coaching to team members to support their understanding of the architecture and aid in their technical development

  • Experience with Agile development methodology (e.g., Scrum)

  • Enjoy collaborating, learning from, and teaching others so we can all become better developers.

  • Ability to create an environment for honest and open discussion of all issues. You involve the right people, from your team and others, to resolve critical issues.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
