Eaton Corporation Lead Digital Design Engineer in Topeka, Kansas

Eaton’s Corporate Technology Office (CTO) Division is currently seeking a Lead Digital Design Engineer. This position is based at our Southfield, MI facility on a hybrid schedule. Relocation assistance will be provided.

Position Overview:

This position will focus on automation of digital product design and optimization processes. The role is responsible to automate CAD and CAE modeling and simulation tools as well as using machine learning algorithms to assist modeling, simulation, and product design. They will provide technical leadership and play a crucial role in delivering innovative, scalable solutions, and driving collaboration and integration between multiple internal and external partners.

In this function you will:

  • Use engineering modeling, simulation (for structural, fluid, materials, manufacturing, etc.) and optimization software

  • Develop scripts for pre- and post-processing, and execution of engineering simulations

  • Use machine learning to assist product design

  • Lead high quality delivery of a variety of technical engagements enabling breakthrough business outcomes for customers

  • Work alongside and lead internal and external partner teams to deliver solutions.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in an engineering discipline or computer science or related area from an accredited institution

  • Experience with mechanical/electromechanical engineering design, modeling, and simulation tools

  • 2+ years’ experience in modeling and simulation, machine learning, or software development

  • Practical experience with coding tools such as Python

  • Practical knowledge or experience with machine learning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in an engineering discipline or computer science or related area

  • Proficiency with mechanical and electromechanical engineering design, modeling, and simulation tools

  • Proficiency with Python, C#, Matlab, or any other scripting languages

  • Basic project management skills

Position Criteria:

  • Prior work experience with the industry

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams

  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to changing needs

The expected annual salary range for this role is $87,200 - $119,900 a year.
