Meta Lead Commercial Counsel in Topeka, Kansas


Meta seeks a transactional lawyer to support a range of media, entertainment and talent initiatives, focusing primarily on video licensing and/or talent engagements across all of Meta’s Apps (including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger). The candidate will work with business leads to structure, draft and negotiate agreements with media partners, key talent, content creators and other digital licensors. The candidate will also advise teams on the various legal risks, business strategies and other issues related to commercial transactions and business operations. This is a full-time position that will be based in the U.S.

Required Skills:

Lead Commercial Counsel Responsibilities:

  1. Contract drafting, negotiation and advisory responsibilities for a range of media and entertainment licenses and/or talent services, with minimal supervision

  2. Provide business and legal advice to licensing different rights using independent judgment and discretion

  3. Manage legal issues in existing domestic and international commercial relationships

  4. Build collaborative and effective working relationships with different teams across the U.S. and internationally

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. J.D. degree with at least one U.S. state bar

  2. 5+ years of relevant legal experience in transactional practice at a law firm or in-house, or at marketing production company or equivalent experience

  3. Experience working independently in multiple projects and make decisions that have legal and business impact

  1. Familiarity with IP licensing and/or talent agreements

  2. Familiarity with copyright and/or rights of publicity

  3. Interest in the evolving media, entertainment and tech landscape
