Position Summary

One part data scientist, one part data engineer, and two parts data story teller, the Ecommerce Product Analysts will construct and manage the KPIs that guide the elements of the specific business unit. Product Analysts work with product teams to develop the metrics that the business will use to measure success, and provide the means for the business to access those metrics through reports, dashboards, and data visualizations. As subject matter experts on the data produced and collected relative to the website and application’s functions, Product Analytics provides the intelligence necessary to extract insights from that data, as well as recognize where data needs are unmet and must be enhanced.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining innovative KPI metric reporting dashboards for a specific vertical (Web or ShopApp)

  • Investigating data anomalies to determine their sources and implications for a specific vertical. Where needed, generate adjustments to aggregated results to compensate for erroneous data reporting.

  • Collaborating with partner teams to develop data driven insights pertinent to user behavior either within the ecommerce environment, or in the world at large as implied by the information provided.

  • Supporting ad hoc requests for user segmentations or collaborating with team members to provide cross-vertical segmentations. This includes analysis of A/B experimentation results, providing statistical rigor and expertise to the determination of experiment outcomes.

  • Supporting development of new metrics and building prototype pipelines and visualizations for a specific vertical or a well-defined cross-application feature set.

  • Automating tasks that reveal themselves to be needed on regular cadences for a specific vertical or cross-vertical feature set or platform.

  • Supporting ad hoc requests for user segmentations for a specific vertical or cross-vertical feature set or platform.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Proficient at SQL, Visualization;

  • Proficient scripting (Python), statistical packages (R, SciPy)

  • Problem solving.

  • Critical/skeptical thinking.

  • Effective communication.

Education And / Or Experience

  • 4+ years of professional experience in a related field. Significant experience with data manipulation/querying/visualization.

  • BA or BS in Analytical field (math/statistics, business, social/hard sciences, CS)

  • The expectation is that the team member will come in with a proficient understanding of relational databases and the SQL query language. They should have a working understanding of probability and statistics. Proficiency with statistical packages and scripting tools are beneficial to the role.
