Looking for a challenge? We are currently fielding applications for Database Engineers with a strong focus on MySQL or Oracle database administration and architecture. We are looking for someone to join the team and help transform our database layer at scale, and have a blast doing it.
As part of the engineering team, you will work closely with front-end and back-end engineers to keep our infrastructure humming, diagnose and fix performance issues, and identify and implement improvements to processes or tools already in use.
Collaborate with our Engineering, Product and Support Teams on building, maintaining and monitoring the infrastructure for our SaaS platform
Assist with development and implementation of new tools and processes for managing our database infrastructure
Participate and support on-call rotation for database issues
Design, optimize, and maintain a large MySQL/PHP environment
Identify existing and potential performance pitfalls and work with the engineers to diagnose and fix
Prepare database infrastructure for the next phase of rapid scaling
Responsibility and accountability for the availability and reliability of all Production Databases.
Working with other Engineering teams to triage issues.
Perform complex root cause Analysis of problems and subsequently, make and implement recommendations to prevent future occurrences or customer impact.
Define, develop and deploy system monitoring requirements/thresholds as well as corrective actions. Improve the system reliability via predictive analysis.
Design, develop, deploy, and enhance automation to reliably manage the platform infrastructure.
Designing, scaling out services in our multi-tenant infrastructure.
B.A./B.S. with a strong academic record or equivalent experience
8 + Years of Database Architecture and Design
5 + Years of Database Administration
5 + Years of Database Schema, Query, Design and Analysis
Excellent communication and problem solving skills
Ability to work in a fun, creative, and collaborative environment
Past experience monitoring, maintaining and tuning MySQL in a highly available environment, a central requirement
Experience with scaling MySQL at significant levels including sharding and master/master replication
Experience with configuration management as it relates to Databases a plus
Ability to understand SQL queries to help optimize traffic to the database layer and resolve malformed data requests
Oracle database engineering skills (11g/12c) to include database infrastructure (Oracle RAC, Linux, SAN and Network) and database concepts (SQL, PL/SQL).
Strong Technical skill on Oracle RAC administration and advanced troubleshooting.
Strong Technical skill on Oracle ASM and advanced troubleshooting.
In-depth knowledge and experience with Oracle RDBMS HA solutions.å
Hands on operation of Data Guard failover and switchover and troubleshooting .
Hands on Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control.
Hands on experience in dealing with Database Corruptions issue, Rman Backup, restores and recoveries.
Nice to have skills:
OO Python and/or Java programming skills
AWS building out instances in EC2
Experience in administering PostgreSQL.
