Meta Data Science Manager, Infrastructure Strategy in Topeka, Kansas


Facebook, Inc. is looking for an experienced leader to head our Data Science team supporting Facebook’s Data Infrastructure organization. We are looking for a talented leader with strong technical depth and a passion for helping the company building and operating one of the world’s largest data warehouses powering all AI/ML and Analytics use cases across the company. You will drive data science partnerships with business and technical leaders. You will have an opportunity to establish a roadmap and vision as the team supports a large and growing data infrastructure organization. We will rely on your leadership to expand our methodologies, maximize the actionable insights of our data, and grow a team that will use these core assets to have a big impact on the company’s core mission. This includes building industry leading data warehousing solutions, collaborating with engineering partners to optimize systems’ reliability and efficiency, and developing best practices for data security and privacy. As our partner teams are spread between the Facebook headquarters, this role will provide you with an opportunity to develop a data science engagement model that scales globally.

Required Skills:

Data Science Manager, Infrastructure Strategy Responsibilities:

  1. Build and manage a team of the very top talent - the brightest minds in analytics, data science, and data engineering with the ability to not only keep up with, but also pioneer, in this space.

  2. Collaborate with and influence leadership so that your team’s work directly impacts company strategy and direction.

  3. Develop new techniques and data that will enable answering previously unanswerable and new questions.

  4. Develop deep partnerships with engineering and product teams to deliver on major cross-functional measurements, testing, and modeling efforts.

  5. Communicate effectively to all levels of the organization, including executives.

  6. Provide success in partnering teams with dramatically varying backgrounds, from the highly technical to the highly creative.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Advanced degree in a quantitative field - computer science, statistics, operations research, economics, etc.

  2. 10+ years of experience in Analytics/Data Science/Data Engineering or Quantitative fields, both as an individual contributor and managing teams.

  3. Experience instilling a culture of ownership, collaboration, and results.

  4. Track record of recruiting talent in data engineering, analytics, and data science.

  5. Track record of delivering analytics products and insights, and influencing product and engineering decisions.

  1. Experience with Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Distributed Systems.

  2. Experience supporting infrastructure and internal/external customer facing products.
