SMX is seeking a driven and customer-focused Data Engineer to work on the creation, integration, and managed services lifecycle. Join our team and you will work closely with key stakeholders and clients within multiple areas of data and cloud computing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver ETL data integration workflow components

  • Work within an AWS environment and use technologies including Amazon RDS, S3, Redshift, AWS Glue, Kinesis, etc.

  • Data manipulation including profiling/modeling, advanced query writing

  • Implementation and management of business intelligence (BI) dashboarding solutions

  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, etc.

  • Work with business stakeholders to assist with data-related needs and issues

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge designing and delivering ETL data integration workflow components

  • Strong technical knowledge of AWS cloud computing, global infrastructure, services, solutions, migration, and security

  • Fluency in at least one scripting language (preferably Python)

  • Expert knowledge of AWS services, specifically: S3, Glue, Lambda, RDS, Redshift, Kinesis, CloudWatch, SNS, API Gateway.

  • Working knowledge of PostgreSQL

  • Expertise performing root cause analysis on data and processes required to answer business questions and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Strong business and analytical skills including direct interaction with business end users

  • Knowledge of Power BI report and dashboard development

  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence Reporting Tools (Power BI or MicroStrategy preferred)

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business Analytics disciplines, or related area

  • 3+ years of experience with ETL and data integration, data quality analysis, statistical analysis, cloud computing, and/or modeling

  • 1+ year of experience with visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI is highly preferred

  • Hold appropriate data engineering certifications
