Meta Data Center Operations Analytics Engineer in Topeka, Kansas

Summary:

In this role, your primary responsibility will be to partner with key stakeholders and lead the development of analytics to support and enable the continued growth in Meta’s Data Center organization, Site Operations. As we plan to grow our Data Center organization, we need to leverage data to drive decisions and introduce automation, predictability & optimization, enabling us to operate efficiently and reliably at scale. You will be responsible for creating end-to-end analytics, from data sourcing to surfacing insights and driving action to continually improve the way our data centers perform.You will also help translate data into insights that identify efficiency opportunities. You will be expected to use data to provide meaningful recommendations and actionable strategies to key stakeholders, and develop best practices, including streamlining of data sources and related programmatic initiatives.The ideal candidate will have a passion for working in white space and creating impact from the ground up in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, you will have a proven track record of thought leadership and impact in developing similar analytics and metrics-based programs.

Required Skills:

Data Center Operations Analytics Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Acts as key data expert on operation of servers in a hyper-scale data center environment

  2. Leverage knowledge and expertise in operational processes to partner with data engineers and software engineers to ensure high quality and reliable data is available for analysis

  3. Identify and apply best of class analytics methodologies from relevant industries (e.g., manufacturing process control) to facilitate operational consistency and efficiency at scale

  4. Bring multiple areas of business and engineering together via a framework of common data, metrics, and insights to enhance operational performance of Meta’s infrastructure. Lead analytical discussions to drive change

  5. Work with data center teams to clearly elaborate/define requirements for dashboards that drive actionable, measurable operational efficiencies

  6. Partner with the data centers and cross-functional teams to maintain existing dashboard and data pipelines, ensuring that they remain relevant and reflect the operational priorities for Site Operations

  7. Work with partners to use data mining and statistical techniques to validate or identify operational inefficiencies, exceptions, and fault/event correlation

  8. Formulate the right metrics and definitions of success to drive quality, efficiency, cost, and timeliness understanding the source data

  9. Provide data supported narratives, determining what is important and what next steps should be taken

  10. Deal with ambiguity and make independent decisions about what data and approach is best for the task at hand

  11. Lead and support various ad hoc projects, in support of Meta’s Data Center strategy

  12. Leverage tools like R, Tableau, Python, and SQL to drive efficient analytics

  13. Ability to travel up to 20% required

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau

  2. Degree in an analytical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Data Science, Management Science, or commensurate experience)

  3. Knowledge of leveraging data driven models to drive business decisions

  4. Experience communicating operational data insights to all organizational levels

  5. Knowledge of statistics (e.g., statistics basics, statistical modeling, experimental design, hypothesis testing, etc.)

  6. Be a self-starter, motivated by developing the best possible solutions to problems

  7. 3+ years of SQL development experience writing queries

  8. Experience using data access tools and building visualizations using large datasets and multiple data sources

  9. 3+ years of experience in a role with data analysis and metrics development

  1. Hands-on experience analyzing and interpreting data, drawing conclusions, defining recommended actions, and reporting results across stakeholders

  2. Experience working in a large-scale data center environment

  3. Experience developing dashboards and visualizations using Tableau

  4. Leadership and/or team management experience

  5. Experience with multiple coding languages (R, Hack, Python)
