Smartronix is seeking a driven and talented DevSecOps Cloud Engineer to join our thriving Cloud Services business unit and work with some of the best Cloud Architects and Cloud Engineers in the market. This individual will bring a strong trouble-shooting background, generalist technical skill set, and the ability to build automated security into our customer’s solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Take direction from, and provide clear and timely updates to, Project Lead or Project Manager
Deploy and configure cloud services according to best practice (e.g.: EC2, VPC, RDS, IAM, CloudFront, Route53, CloudWatch, KMS, Redshift, S3 and Glacier, Kinesis)
Identify opportunities for security automation and implement security-as-code or compliance-as-code solutions
Proactively identify potential security and compliance issues and work to resolve
Identify system or performance issues, and develop resolutions
Implement compliance automation solutions
Participate in troubleshooting of infrastructure and/or application related issues
Produce well-written technical project documentation and operational runbooks
Participate in change management processes
Maintain core working hours but remain flexible to support after-hours maintenance and escalations (as necessary)
Participate as a team player capable of high performance and flexibility in a dynamic working environment
Take ownership of issues and act with high sense of urgency when required
Improve CI/CD tools integration/operations and full automation of CI/testing
Troubleshoot issues with CI/CD pipeline
Achieve and maintain AWS certifications
Required Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and two (2+) years of relevant hands-on experience
Proven ability to dissect a technical architecture into engineering plans and discrete tasks
Proven ability to develop and deploy Production-ready AWS solutions through Infrastructure as Code
Strong skillset with CloudFormation
Collaborate with internal dev team to help end-to-end testing
Knowledge of CI/CD tools (CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Git, Jenkins, etc.)
Ability to build code pipelines and support deployment activities
Ability to write scripts in JavaScript, Bash, Python, or similar
Depth of knowledge in security best practices, tools, and compliance frameworks (NIST, FedRamp, HIPAA, etc.)
A good understanding of foundational cloud components (e.g.: VPN, Direct Connect, IAM, CloudWatch, "cross account" capabilities)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with customers
Desired Skills / Certs:
BS/BA in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field or equivalent technical experience
AWS Associate level certification (required)
AWS SA/DevOps/Developer Pro certifications (req’d within 90 days)
AWS Security specialty certification (desire)
