Clinical Pharmacist

Overview of Position

The Clinical Pharmacist is the primary staff clinician and drug information specialist. They are responsible for preparing clinical reports, drug monographs and preparing and/or presenting information to the various boards and committees and assisting the data analyst by providing clinical criteria for reporting.

Location: This is a remote/telecommuter position that requires 20-25% overnight travel to Ohio.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Actively supports the Account Manager and Clinical Account Manager

  • Serve as the Drug Information Specialist

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes pertaining to drugs, including the pricing of procedure coded drugs dispensed by non-pharmacy providers such as practitioner offices and outpatient clinic settings

  • Attends professional association meetings, as required by ODM

  • Manages the clinical call center and other issues related to drug prior authorizations

  • Monitors prior authorization trends and makes clinically and financially sound recommendations to ODM

  • Actively supports the prospective and retrospective drug utilization review activities, including reporting

  • Acquires, analyzes, and maintains information regarding pharmacy benefits management best practices

  • Coordinates lock-in program activities for the fee-for-service population

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Must be a registered pharmacist licensed in Ohio in good standing or be able to get a quick reciprocal license in Ohio

  • Strong reporting experience is required, so must be intermediate to advanced level in MS Excel or other reporting systems

  • Requires at least 1+ years of working experience in a clinical setting

  • Must be comfortable leading meetings and providing complicated information to different levels of people

  • Requires extensive knowledge of claims processing systems (including Medicaid) and drug information systems

  • Requires 3+ years of experience with government or private sector health care payers

  • Requires knowledge of hospital, home infusion, community and long-term care pharmacy practices

What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?

  • Experience working with or for a Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) is strongly preferred

  • Previous experience with clinical call centers with large healthcare payer; and

  • Pharm D. degree

This position may require 20-25% overnight travel to Ohio. Employees in roles that require travel will need to be able to qualify for a company credit card or be able to use their own personal credit card for travel expenses and submit for reimbursement.
