Stormont-Vail Healthcare Clinical Informaticist (Quality Reporting) in Topeka, Kansas
The primary role for this position is to serve as the expert for building reports related to quality measures and CMS Meaningful Use for Eligible Hospitals and/or Eligible Professionals. This includes SV COnnectOne report build, workflow build, running reports and continually monitoring progress to meet quality and meaningful use measures for the organization. This position will work closely with clinicians to ensure that the EMR build around these measures is optimal for workflow. This position will also work closely with hospital/clinic quality analysts to ensure that we are effectively capturing quality measures for reporting purposes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responds timely to user concerns regarding issues and takes action to address needs; involves vendor when needed. Tracks users’ concerns and looks for patterns in problems; utilizes support center software to log or follow up on each customer call, enter call status and document resolution. Assists with resolution of hardware related issues, including printing.
Follows operational processes to assure systems stability and availability. Tests any changes to system in test environment and works collaboratively with IS staff to ensure changes are moved to live environment in a coordinated manner, utilizing defined change management process. Ensures appropriate application downtime procedures are communicated.
Creates and maintains documentation related to application functionality, application support, application testing, application downtime process, and application restore. Assists in development of end-user education.
Work with the vendor to ensure appropriate installation of new applications, updates and upgrades. Uses project management skills to effectively manage implementations, upgrades, and activities.
Serves as liaison between IS and patient care staff including physicians. Seeks to understand clinician processes/workflow in individual departments via rounds.
Provide on-call support for the application, ensuring 24x7 support.
Provides assistance to any staff member where priorities have been assigned by immediate supervisor.
Applies appropriate customer service concepts to daily activities such as communicating service levels, providing necessary status reports, maintaining high customer satisfaction levels, maintaining an awareness of industry trends/changes, and creating solutions that meet customer needs.
Perform monthly tasks and tasks with each bi-monthly system update related to CMS reporting for eligible hospitals and or eligible providers:
Review system update Nova Notes related to CMS reporting and Quality Measures.
Complete any build or set up required for system update.
Perform backfill of Objective and Quality Measures to ensure report accuracy.
Coordinate data extracts into Clarity tables and Compass Upgrades.
Coordinate the running of Reporting Workbench and Crystal Reports to ensure numbers improve or are maintained after system updates.
Review weekly Essential Meaningful Use Update Bulletins (EMUUs) for any issues that may affect our numbers and reporting. Follow-up with Epic MU Lead as needed if we are impacted by these issues.
Participate in the Epic hosted regulatory call webinars to stay up to date on CMS regulations, learn more details about how to configure/handle problem measures, and listen to other customers develop solutions for problem measures.
Work with Quality Measure analysts to analyze reports, build, mappings and configurations as needed to keep current with new rulings and reporting requirements released by The Joint Commission or CMS.
Review various regulatory guides (i.e., Build “Green” Guide, Reporting “Gray” Guide for Quality Measures, Reporting “Black” Guide for Core Measures, Joint Commission Manual, etc.) to trouble shoot reports.
Work with Epic TS to determine cause of any reporting issues and perform necessary build, set up, backfill, etc. needed to resolve the issue.
Maintain & configure regulatory build in Epic text (Clin Admin) and Reporting Workbench. Maintain regulatory build tracker spreadsheet to reflect the workflows we are using to capture each data element for electronic reporting.
Coordinate work related to Transitions of Care:
Keep external provider directory up to date with addresses from KHIN and periodically export our provider directory to give to KHIN.
Work with external organizations to improve our ability to send & receive direct messages with non-epic organizations.

Bachelor’s degree with licensure/certification/registration appropriate to the application that this position supports, two years’ clinical experience plus one year in IT application support (report writing, super user, IT implementation, table maintenance, IT training, or healthcare Helpdesk or IT support experience).
