What does a successful Client Solutions Consultant do?

The Client Solutions Consultant is a sales engineer position that is charged with providing subject matter and technical expertise in sales opportunities to facilitate the discovery and capture of business needs and opportunities, to develop and analyze solutions, and to engender confidence and credibility through presentation and direct interaction. This role is a key subject matter expert, internally and externally, on our products and services and how they are utilized within the markets we serve, and it requires advanced technical, organizational, and communication skills. The position is responsible for understanding key client pain points and business strategies and creating a compelling strategy for solutions to solve business needs. This position works closely with the Sales and Account Management team in a consultative manner to drive new business. This position works in close collaboration with multiple internal teams in a matrix environment, including Product, Implementations, and IT, to influence enhancements, design and deliver solutions to satisfy client and customer needs.

The Senior Client Solutions Consultant works with Sales and Account Management teams to facilitate the sale of electronic billing and payment solutions across a wide spectrum of industry verticals. These solutions include: CheckFreePay, BillMatrix, eBill Distribution and more.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead Sales Executives and other Fiserv teams to determine and provide the best solution based on Biller Requirements and product capabilities.

  • Drive accountability while providing support to the U.S. based Sales and Account teams including driving TCV and revenue goals, identifying and leading additional opportunities and other duties as assigned.

  • Partner with Sales Executives and Product Management to provide thought leadership to align the right solution to exactly meet the needs of the client.

  • Adhere to solution selling techniques in line with the Fiserv Way of Selling tools and methods.

  • Illustrate the value of the Solution to prospects in a compelling manner. Drive sales process towards standard features/functionality to accelerate time to market following the sales and implementation processes.

  • Acts to creatively resolve obstacles to Fiserv’s and clients’ satisfaction. Responsible for aligning the Solution capabilities (products and services) with client business requirements through a professional and ethical business approach which endorses Fiserv’s values.

  • Promote and support sales opportunities into existing Fiserv accounts and help to ensure that customers are successful in their objectives and remain referenceable for Fiserv.

  • Responsible for staying abreast of product roadmap and maintaining ability to effectively communicate roadmap to prospects and clients in support of business opportunities.

  • Responsible for understanding business and technical problems addressed by the products including key regulations, business drivers, evolving business needs, etc.

  • Responsible for staying current on competitive analyses and understanding differentiators between the company and its competitors.

  • Work in a leadership capacity on broader Fiserv or pan Fiserv opportunities to present solutions and create a solution strategy to meet a Biller’s needs that require multiple products from multiple divisions.

  • Follow standardized processes, procedures and guidelines to facilitate the sale of Biller Solutions’ products

  • Work closely with all levels of management in a technical and sales environment in a matrix organization

  • Responsible for providing feedback from the market to Product Management and Development regarding products including identification of gaps between product functionality and market/customer demands.

Basic qualifications for consideration:

  • 5+ years’ experience with financial institutions or technology vendors servicing financial institutions

  • Possesses at least 5 years’ experience in sales, pre-sales or implementation of software solutions, ideally in a similar solution area.

  • Experience indicating an understanding of / or ability to quickly acquire in depth knowledge of multiple product lines in support of the responsibilities above

  • Experience indicating ability as an independent problem solver able to solve problems without precedents or guidelines

  • History of managing complex projects

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
