Smartronix is seeking a driven and talented Senior Cloud Engineer/Site Reliability Engineer to join our thriving Cloud Services business unit and work with some of the best Cloud Architects and Cloud Engineers in the market. This individual will bring experience in infrastructure automation and infrastructure as code (IaC) principles and will provide hands-on experience implementing cloud-native, and automation-centric architectures. Our Site Reliability Engineers have working knowledge of continuous integration models, work directly with leads and program managers and exhibit an overall willingness to contribute to the Smartronix team. A strong focus on quality, communication, customer success, and results, the individual will be working alongside some of the best Cloud technologists in the market..

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take direction from, and provide clear and timely updates to, Project Lead or Project Manager

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to more junior-level resources

  • Deploy and configure cloud services according to best practice (e.g.: Azure Virtual Machines, DevOps, Pipelines, ExpressRoute, Lighthouse, Resource Manager, etc.)

  • Identify opportunities to automate and/or bring efficiency to technical processes

  • Identify system or performance issues, and develop resolutions

  • Take the lead troubleshooting of infrastructure and/or application related issues

  • Produce well-written technical project documentation and operational runbooks and assist more junior resources in doing the same

  • Participate in change management processes

  • Maintain core working hours but remain flexible to support after-hours maintenance and escalations (as necessary)

  • Participate as a team player capable of high performance and flexibility in a dynamic working environment

  • Take ownership of issues and act with high sense of urgency when required

  • Actively participate in the development and review of business and system requirements to obtain a thorough understanding of customer needs in order to deliver accurate solutions.

  • Produce technical documentation that accurately and thoroughly depicts the software design and code base. The documentation needs to sufficiently assist QA testing and production support activities.

  • Execute adequate unit testing of own and other developers’ application development work. At a minimum, unit testing should ensure all requirements have been addressed, all basic functionality works, and errors are handled properly.

  • Expeditiously troubleshoot application production issues that resolve the issues without causing additional problems.

  • Provide updates to project leadership on work in progress, work completed, work planned, and issues potentially impacting the on-time completion or quality level of work.

  • Perform systems analysis and functional testing as needed.

  • Complete project responsibilities including design, coding, unit testing, and documentation on time at required quality level.

  • Perform code reviews, unit testing, and system testing as needed for other developers’ efforts. At a minimum, code reviews, unit testing, and system testing should ensure all requirements have been addressed, all basic functionality works, and errors are handled properly.

  • Achieve and maintain Azure Certifications

Required Skills:

  • Clearance required: None

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience

  • Ability to dissect a technical architecture into engineering plans and discrete tasks

  • Ability to develop and deploy Production-ready Azure solutions through Infrastructure as Code

  • Experience operating in high-availability, production environments

  • 3+ years’ experience developing DevOps solutions from scratch using tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Packer, Azure DevOps and related products

  • Ability to build code pipelines and support deployment activities

  • Ability to write scripts in JavaScript, Bash, Python, or similar

  • 4+ years of experience with hyperscale cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) with at least 1 year of experience on Azure

  • 2+ years’ experience with Azure Automation and/or Terraform

  • 7+ years of technology industry experience

  • Experience working in agile development environments; experience with Scrum Process.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Azure Associate level certification

  • Customer-focused attitude
