The Associate Director, Cloud Architecture designs, builds, and maintains data processing architectures and solutions enabling the efficient conversion of structured and unstructured data to insights at enterprise scale. The Associate Director, Cloud Architecture requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the function or segment.

The Associate Director, Cloud Architecture, ingests data from internal and external sources utilizing cloud native platforms and software development best practices and patterns. Develops software tools that leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big-data techniques to cleanse, organize, and transform data into insights and actions that enables Humana to better serve our members. Decisions are typically related to the implementation of new/updated programs or large-scale projects for the function and supporting technical/operational procedures and processes. This role implements strategic plans, drives goals and objectives, and improves performance.

Additional Job Description

The Associate Director, Cloud Architecture will oversee a section of Humana’s data platforms via a foundation of innovation, scalability, and security to provide leading-edge solutions to drive enhanced data business decision-making. The Associate Director, Cloud Architecture will lead team development and core technology enablement to advance Humana’s data platform engineering delivery.

Key Accountabilities

  • Team Leadership : Inspire, coach, and mentor a team of Data Platform Engineers that design, develop, deploy, and enhance the new and existing data platforms, providing guidance and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborative Influencer: Developing strong relationships with IT Leaders to enhance our data platform strategy and spearhead cross-functional teams to deliver data platform solutions.

  • Data Platform Architecture : Collaborate with architects and data engineers to design scalable, recoverable, and reliable data platform architectures.

  • Data Platform Enablement : Provide leadership to enable data platforms, systems and infrastructure across our data center and cloud data environments.

  • Data Platform Delivery: Oversee the management and provisioning of data platform infrastructure resources to support business functions.

  • Data Platform Support : Provide guidance to data platform operational support teams.

  • Innovation and Growth: Staying up-to-date with the evolving data platform landscape, thus ensuring Humana remains a leader in technical innovation.

  • Automation : Implement automation processes for provisioning, configuration management, and deployment of data platform services.

  • Budget Management : Manage to budget requirements for a data platform engineering team.

  • Vendor Relationship Management : Oversee the managing and monitoring of Humana vendors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.

  • 6 or more years of technical experience.

  • 2 or more years of IT personnel management experience.

  • 3 or more years of in-depth experience with Cloud based data warehouse and data lake technologies (Snowflake, Databricks, etc).

  • Broad technology experience across several areas including cloud architecture, applications development, relational databases, NoSQL databases, analytics, security, storage, DevOps, containers, CI/CD, cloud migrations, and IT transformation.

  • Experience with designing, implementing and maintaining complex highly available mission critical data platform environments for 24x7 availability.

  • Experience with large enterprise level systems and managing data at scale.

  • Experience with multiple public cloud providers.

  • Strong communication & presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with Executives, IT Management, and Technical SMEs.

  • Flexible in a fast-paced dynamic environment with shifting roles and responsibilities.

  • Technically creative and open-minded.

  • Broad understanding of Information Technology solutions including technologies, platforms, applications and capabilities.

  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$156,600 - $215,400 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
