The University of Kansas Health System PRN Scheduler Admitting Rep in SHAWNEE MISSION, Kansas

We are hiring for a Scheduler Admitting Representative.

  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

  • Interacts with physicians, office staff, patients, patient families, nursing personnel, and radiology personnel in a courteous and professional manner with a focus on keeping delays in procedural scheduling to a minimum.

  • Expectations are to be organized, prioritize, use critical thinking skills, and perform work in an efficient and timely manner within established guidelines and policies.

  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of scheduling protocols and guidelines, patient registration, pre-certification requirements and basic levels of health insurance and billing procedures.

  • Maintains knowledge of order entry and scanning capabilities as job requires.

  • Schedules/reschedules/cancels imaging procedures in a courteous, professional and timely manner.

  • Demonstrates knowledge in all computer systems necessary to retrieve orders.

  • Demonstrates knowledge in scheduling system with all necessary functions.

  • Keeps work area organized and scheduling information readily available.

  • Answers phone calls in a timely manner.

  • Demonstrates the initiative to assist others and other shifts as needed.

  • Maintains productivity within benchmark levels.

  • Prioritizes exams based on clinical indications and contraindications.

  • Accommodates all scheduling requests.

  • Provides complete accurate exam related information to the patient regarding prep and other exam related notes.

  • Confirms patient appointments.

  • Is proficient, accurate, and demonstrates attention to detail in all aspects of the job.

  • Verifies referring physician orders against scheduled appointments for accuracy.

  • Coordinates all aspects of anesthesia as necessary.

  • Maintains discretion and protects patient confidentiality and privacy.

  • Verifies patient demographics and insurance information which includes accurate spelling.

  • Attends and actively participates in any staff training or education activities relating to job position.

  • Other duties maybe assigned as required.

Required:

  • High School Diploma

  • 3-6 months in health care or customers service field

Preferred:

  • Associates Degree

  • Medical Terminology Course
