You Will Be Responsible For:
Sanitation
  • Demonstrates high standards of sanitation, quality and productivity and is knowledgeable regarding

standards including state food code, JCAHO and health department regulations.

  • Demonstrates proper sanitation procedures related to hand washing (when, how), hair restraints, gloves  (single use), ice machine procedures.
  • Demonstrates basic understanding of infectious diseases that relate to cleaning, use of hand sanitizers, and hand washing.
  • Understands cleaning chemicals and their properties as they relate to their position including Quat

sanitizer standards and procedures.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitizing; removing debris from surface, sanitizing work area properly.
 
Safety
  • Understands kitchen hazards (burns, cuts, slips & falls, PPE) and ensures a safe working environment by following training/safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of food temperature danger zone.
  • Ensures all products are labeled, dated, rotated properly for first in first out.
  • Demonstrates safety guidelines in the kitchen including knowledge of emergency exits, fire extinguisher use, and emergency preparedness.
 
Leadership
  • Encourage and promote attendance to SMH activities and meetings.

  • Work with department Director and Retail/Catering Manager and other leaders to create and communicate strategies, priorities and goals for the department and ensure there are systems in place to enable team members to receive information in a timely manner.

  • Organize café operations and allocate responsibilities to staff.

  • Develop a strong retail team by ensuring the team's goals are clear and motivating the entire team to meet or exceed goals.

  • Demonstrates organization, time management and multi-tasking skills necessary to produce food items to be ready for service.

  • Mentors new employees to assist them with assimilation into the work team, provides timely feedback to retail staff and recognizes others' successes to increase employee retention.

  • Develops and maintains close customer ties, articulates customer needs and keeps priorities in focus with the desires and expectations of the customer.
  • Works collaboratively with the production and storeroom to provide food that meets high quality standards.
  • Identifies problems in a timely manner and communicates to the Chef or Manager as appropriate.
  • Participates in menu development and product selection of café food items.
  • Participates in planning and implementation of promotional events and displays.
  • Effectively markets new items, educates staff with product knowledge to promote sales.
  • Utilizes Computrition, Suitepoint, Arc and other systems as necessary to manage nutrition labeling, price

and promotion of café items.

  • Develop and maintain close relationships with vendors.

  • Participate in conducting interviews, hiring, terminating, disciplining staff and completing the annual reviews for associates.

 
 
 
 
 
Quality
  • Collaborates on the establishment of service standards and monitors implementation.
  • Serves quality food (flavor, appearance, temperature) following standardized recipes in a  timely manner.
  • Ensures all food prior to and during service is evaluated for optimal food quality including taste testing.
  • Can move easily between back and front of the house operations doing whatever is necessary to serve

high quality food in an efficient timely manner.

 
Service
  • Handle complaints from customers to maintain department’s reputation.
  • Models outstanding customer service and defines expectations for staff to do the same.  Utilizes AIDET during all interactions and LAST in service recovery.
  • Displays a professional appearance at all times through grooming, dress, language and non-verbal behavior and employs high customer service skills.
  • Leads by example and builds within the department a culture of service excellence through training and monitoring.
  • Educates associates on service behaviors in order to foster a customer focused environment.
  • Strives to go above and beyond the customer's expectations.
  • Maximizes productivity through development and schedule staff appropriate to the level
of service provided.
 
Financial
  • Assist in preparation and control of retail budget.
  • Monitor stock levels and purchases to ensure they stay within budget.
  • Continually evaluates ways to control food, labor and supply costs.
  • Completes daily, weekly, monthly reports as required.

Implements and maintains cash handling standards as outlined by AHS/SMH policies and procedures

 

 

Qualifications

What You Will Need:
  • 2-5 years of position related experience.
  • Proficient in Windows Office Suite, especially Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in supervision/management of 5 or more employees.

  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in restaurant or institutional food service.

  • High School Diploma, GED
  • Associate Degree
  • Serve Safe or completion within 6 months
 
 

The Retail Operations Supervisor is responsible for overall operations of the Harvest Kitchen, Catering and other retail operations as needed, ensuring adequate staffing, assisting the team members as needed and interacting with guests and associates.  Delegates duties to associates to ensure standards for optimal food quality, timely and friendly service, productivity, and sanitation are consistently met.  Ensures staff competency by continually developing café employees by assisting with the hiring, scheduling, training and coaching of staff and conducting annual performance reviews.  Issues appropriate counseling and disciplinary action.  Is a team player who displays good decision-making, excellent communication/customer service skills, and a professional manner in all aspects of work.  Must be flexible and able to deliver services on any shift.  Assists with implementation and introduction of new menu and retail items, marketing, nutritional labeling and planning of café events.  Assists in the creation of department processes and procedures to ensure consistency, quality and ease of operations.  Directly reports to Retail/Catering Manager.
