Job Duties: The successful candidate for this position will be assigned to supervise clients in the district’s newly implemented Veteran’s Treatment Court program. This position will meet and interview clients using motivational interviewing and best practice standards to ensure an understanding of Court requirement; track client compliance, performance and progress; provide ongoing guidance to clients throughout their supervision term; maintain updated and accurate case documentation; complete Risk/Needs assessments and make appropriate resource referrals; collaborate with external and internal stakeholders; testify in Court; present written and verbal recommendations to the Veteran’s Treatment team and the Court.
While the first priority of this position will be the supervision of Veterans Treatment Court participants, an additional caseload of regular adult probation and pretrial supervision cases may be added if necessary to provide fulltime job duties.
This is a 4-year grant funded position, and subject to the standard 12-month probationary employment period.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required- graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in psychology, sociology, social work, criminal justice or other human services related field. The applicant must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. All applicants must pass a named-based criminal history check. If employed by Court Services, the new employee will pass a fingerprint based criminal history check within the first thirty days of employment.
Preferred qualifications: Proven verbal and written communication skills. A minimum of one year experience in one or more of the following within the past five years:
Conducting interviews
Writing formal reports
Working with justice-involved individuals
Working with clients with substance abuse and/or mental health issues
Military background
