We are hiring a Supervisor, Food Safety & Quality Microbiology Lab for our manufacturing facility in Salina, KS!
This position is responsible for supervising the operation and maintenance of microbiology laboratory equipment and programs.
Reviews, maintains and updates microbiological methods and standards.
Audits techniques to assure they meet all laboratory procedures.
Enters data and prepares reports.
Interprets results and notifies QA Supervisors, QA Mgr, Sr. Mgr of FSQ Operational Quality, and Plant Director of findings.
Develops and implements sampling and testing studies and evaluate results and generates necessary reports.
Negotiates contracts (In conjunction with Sr. Mgr FSQ Operational Quality and Purchasing Dept) with suppliers of laboratory materials and equipment. Coordinates the maintenance of microbiological laboratory and equipment.
Keeps current on regulatory issues in area of responsibility and represents the company to regulatory inspectors in area of responsibility.
Performs all duties in accordance with USDA FDA State Federal and Company regulations.
Supervises employees including skills development, safety, housekeeping policy administration, discipline, employee relations, performance reviews, cost control and problem solving.
Interview and/or hires employees following required EEO and Affirmative Action guidelines and ensuring employees receive the proper training.
Conducts performance appraisals and administer disciplinary and termination action when necessary.
Use investigative microbial sampling at the plant level for problem solving micro issues.
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Microbiology and/or Science Related Field of Study
Years of Related Experience: Typically has 5-7 years related experience
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general technical scientific or business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
Preferred people leadership experience in professional setting.
Ability to effectively communicate through written reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information orally and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
Demonstrated experience working in a functioning microbiology laboratory with the associated biological chemical and physical hazards
