This job was posted by https://www.kansasworks.com : For more information, please see: https://www.kansasworks.com/ada/r/jobs/11350595 DescriptionTitle Activities SpecialistSupervisor Opportunity Academy Liaison/Activities CoordinatorStatus Non-Exempt To be a successful Activities Specialist you must become able to do the following always:Follow Agency Policy and Procedure.Operate according to the Department Operations Manual.Strategize, plan, coordinate and facilitate client educational, cultural, social and recreational activities strengthening their emotional and physical health. Activities will include community outings, art, music and physical exercise. Provide a trauma sensitive environment focused on creating a safe and supportive environment for clients through knowledge, sensitivity and respect with a focus on resilience and recovery.Engage in partnerships with the community and Development Department to access activities for the clients on campus. Maintain documentation in client records.Design and keep activity calendar/schedule up to date.Intervene in crisis situations as needed by de-escalating the clients' emotional state preparing them for the classroom or cottage setting.Other duties as assigned How you will spend your time in this job:80% Planning, coordinating and facilitating client activities20% DocumentationQualificationsTo qualify for this job you need to have:Strongly prefer bachelor's degree in recreation management, PE, psychology, social sciences, or related field.Experience in child welfare and or residential services. Ability to travel, driving agency or personal vehicle including at night. Ability to do occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Able to walk up stairs. Ability to work flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends. Employee is subject to outside environmental conditions occasionally; inside conditions frequently, with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change.
