Job Summary:

Supply Chain Manager negotiates and coordinates the purchase of all materials, supplies, equipment, and services used by the company with vendors. This position may be housed at either our Liberal, KS or Rush Center, KS office.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May have managerial responsibility and oversite of purchasing department employees.

Duties / Responsibilities:

+ Negotiates with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.

+ Schedules raw material deliveries.

+ Manages raw material inventory levels to ensure that adequate supplies are maintained to support planned production levels.

+ Coordinates the movement of raw materials from storage areas to the plant floor to ensure that appropriate levels of raw materials are maintained in production areas.

+ Manages the inbound quality control program for raw material receipts.

+ Works closely with accounting to ensure invoices are correct and properly accounted for. Also works with accounting to properly report and calculate monthly inventory levels and usage.

+ Coordinates monthly raw material inventory count.

+ Develops reports for monthly perpetual inventory to calculate cost and ending inventory.

+ Establishes Purchasing Policies and ensures compliance.

+ Develops new supply sources where vendors are inadequate.

+ Examines bids and makes awards.

+ Establishes favorable account/credit terms with vendors.

+ Issues and manages purchase orders for all company purchases.

+ Checks requisitions for appropriate approval and account numbers.

+ Traces delinquent arrivals from Purchase Orders.

+ Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.

+ Performs other duties as required by company management

Required Skills / Abilities:

Minimal skills, knowledge and ability requirements include:

+ Must have a thorough knowledge of purchasing and negotiating tactics.

+ Must be highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently.

+ Must have basic accounting knowledge of inventory including FIFO, LIFO and costing.

+ Must have strong leadership skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills.

+ Must have the ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.

+ Must have strong negotiation skills.

+ Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.

+ Will be computer literate and proficient with MS office including Word, Excel and Outlook

+ Must have high attention to detail in work product


+ Bachelor's (Preferred)

The Supply Chain Manager shall have a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible work experience in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory and/or managerial experience in the purchasing function.
