Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for a Director of Forecasting, Special Projects nd Micropolitan Studies to conduct and manage the micropolitan forecasting and econometric modeling outreach operations in support of the missions of the Division of Economic Development and Community Engagement (EDCE) and the Kelce College of Business\' Business and Economic Research Center (BERC). In addition, the Director undertakes special projects supporting local and regional economic development Initiatives for the EDCE.
Duties and Responsibilities
40%ConductLocalandRegionalEconomicForecasting(Essential)
Carryouteconomicforecastingandappliedregionalresearchinsupportofcommunityandregionaleconomic development acrossPittsburgState University\'s primary service area.Specificdutiesinclude:
- Develop,construct,andmaintaineconometricmodelsfor
thePittsburgMicropolitan AreaandtheSoutheast Kansas Region.
- Constructquarterly,annual,andlongrunforecastsforPittsburgandSoutheastKansas.
- Regularlydisseminatethe forecaststhroughappropriatechannels,includingthePittsburgMicropo/itan Area EconomicReport,thePittsburg Micropolitan AreaAnnualProfile,andtheirassociate websites.
- CompileandmaintainthedatabaseofeconomicIndicatorsnecessarytosupporttheeconometricmodelingand forecastingwork.
- Disseminateresultsandinterpretationofeconomicforecastsandregionalanalysestocommunityandregional stakeholders through various mediachannels suchastelevision, radio,newspaper, andweb based outlets.
- Uponrequest,providepresentationstobusinesses,governmentleaders,civicorganizations,andcommunity groupsconcerningtheforecasted conditions of thelocalandregionaleconomy.
- Conduct,present,andpublishacademicresearchinformedbythe modelingandforecastingwork.
40%Conduct Applied Economic Analysis (Essential)
Undertakeappliedeconomicanalysisinsupportoflocal,regional,andstateeconomicdevelopment.Specific duties include:
- Produce economicresearch andanalysistosupportspecialprojectsundertakenbythe BERCandEDCEin fulfillment of their missions.Suchas:economicimpactstudies,revenueforecasting,locationanalysis,workforceneedsanalysis,etc.
- ProvideprofessionaladviceandcounseltoEDCEpersonnelinsupportofeconomicdevelopmentinitiatives.
- Work with BERC andEDCEpersonneltoseek andsecure externalgrants in support of regionaleconomic research and applied service activities.
- Conductfee-based consultationforoutsideentitiesconcerningeconomicimpactanalysisandforecasting.
- OrganizeandproduceotheroutreachprogramsthatsupporttheresearchandservicemissionsofPittsburg State University
20%Professional and other Duties as Assigned (Essential)
CoordinateaninterdisciplinaryMaster\'sdegreeinMicropolitanStudiesincooperationwiththecollegedeans and university faculty.
Regularly teachundergraduate andgraduate courses forthe KeIce College ofBusiness.Annualcourse loadand assignmentstobedeterminedbythe Deanof theKelceCollegeof Businessin consultationwiththeBERC Directorandthe Kelce Faculty Chair.
Maintainan AACSBFacultyQualificationofeitherProfessionalAcademic(PA)orScholasticAcademic(SA).
Manageandsupervisegraduateassistants,andstudentworkersasassigned.
Conductothernormalprofessorialduties,includingserviceoncommitteesandstudentmentoring,asassigned.
Otherdutiesasassig
