Operates the small and large blasters to clean and finish parts and dies.

    Job Summary

  • Loads objects into blasters by hand, cart, or forklift.

  • Operates the small sandblaster.

  • Operates the large sandblaster.

  • Examines objects to ensure conformance to work order or standard.

  • Disposes of dirty sand in waste bin.

  • Sweeps and cleans up sand residue daily.

  • Refills blasters with sand as necessary.

  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to operate a forklift.

  • Read and understand internal procedures and policies.

  • Understand and follow through on both verbal and written instructions.

  • Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.

  • Basic Computer Skills: Able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with training

Required Experience and Education

  • High School Diploma; up to 3 years related experience in job function and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience

Work Environment

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to Communicate Effectively.

  • Annual baseline-hearing test is required.

  • Annual pulmonary test is required.

  • Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

  • Frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch.

  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Working conditions are: 100% manufacturing environment

  • Large blaster requires working in an enclosed space for an extended period of time.

  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.

  • Regularly exposed to airborne particles.

  • A fresh air hood and suit must be worn operating the large booth.

  • Noise level is usually moderate to loud.

  • Hearing protection must be worn in designated areas.

  • Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas.

  • Safety Footwear shall be in accordance with the following: ASTM standard F2413-05 with minimum impact resistance, compression resistance and metatarsal designation ratings of 75 foot pounds (i.e. ASTM F2413-05 I/75 C/75 Mt/75), which are viewable on the inside tag of footwear.
