As our global footprint continues to grow, we are looking for a Software Developer with a focus on both front-end and back-end software development to join our team. This role primarily supports our SaaS platform Product iQ, UL's trusted source for certification, materials, and product information.

Our Materials and Supply Chain division focuses on evaluation, testing, certification and

inspection services to enable safe and quick product introduction to the market. We act as a trusted source of data on chemical safety, materials and components, which is used to drive supply chain transparency, market access and risk management. Our clients trust us to perform tests for individual materials and components in order to addresses safety concerns, such as materials’ contribution to fire and electric shock, or materials’ performance under varying temperatures, weather conditions and chemical exposures. What you’ll learn & achieve:

  • Analyzes, develops and modifies complex software programs.

  • Supports business leadership in the analysis of software and hardware system needs, options, risks, costs and impact on business processes and goals.

  • Resolves problems by devising or modifying procedures. Considers equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results when developing resolutions.

  • Identifies system requirements by interviewing users, interviewing and selecting vendors (if applicable), analyzing applications, evaluating existing and proposed systems, and recommending solutions.

  • Monitors progress of larger software based projects by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports, and recommending actions.

  • Improves systems performance by investigating problems, developing specifications, identifying trends in technology, and recommending solutions.

  • Works on project teams, formulating and defining specifications for complex software programming applications and modifies existing applications.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

What makes you a great fit:

  • One (1) year minimum experience in the software engineering profession with demonstrated success designing and building high-quality, commercial software or SaaS applications.

  • Ability to program in C# and work within the Microsoft stack environment

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and learn new technologies.

  • Strong collaboration, communication, and teamwork skills.

  • Experience developing applications involving relational databases.

  • Enthusiastic attitude for technology and development.

  • An open-minded, result-oriented personality, with a dedication to overcoming challenges.

Preferred Experience

  • Three (3) years experience preferred

  • React or other modern client-side JavaScript frameworks, like Angular or Vue.

  • Clojure or another functional language, like Scala, Elixir, Go, or JavaScript.

  • Elasticsearch- / Lucene-based search tools.

  • RabbitMQ or other message queuing software.

  • CI/CD systems, such as Jenkins or other Devops technologies.

  • Experience building and consuming APIs.

  • Comfort with both front-end and back-end development.
