The Safety Manager is responsible for evaluating fleet management/maintenance, branch loss exposures and trends, strategic planning at the local level and implementing safety programs to achieve established goals. Other responsibilities include regulatory compliance (OSHA, DOT, EPA, Permits and other federal, state and local regulatory agencies) for the region. Finally, a safety professional that fosters a culture of trust and teamwork to accomplish team safety goals and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.


Responsibilities


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


+ Manages and Executes Risk Control Plans to ensure effectiveness of processes.


+ Conducts Root Cause Analysis on incidents and loss experience to identify risks or exposure. Communicates risks and develops plan of action for correction.


+ Coordinates Fleet Management and Safety activities


+ Ensures accuracy in OSHA recordkeeping for the Service Center to avoid legal actions and fines.


+ Reviews and implements local safety practices that conform to regional and company safety policies.


+ Coaches managers, supervisors and employees on safety policy requirements and implementation.


+ Conducts employee training on safety procedures relating to specialized work assignments.


+ Coordinates local injury, accident and fire prevention programs to ensure compliance with all regulations and standards.


+ Reviews employee complaints and suggestions related to safety for input on conditions at the service center level.


+ Provides training to managers, staff and employees on safety policies, processes, hazard identification, elimination and avoidance.


+ Conducts safety audits of fleet, service center as well as job site visits to check the effectiveness of safety policy.


+ Develops innovative or improved methods of risk control to include employee selection, training and accountability, particularly to address local needs and conditions.


+ Ensures claims handling requirements are met and managed, including claims reporting, post-accident requirements.


+ Ensures compliance of Company EHS electronic management systems (Industry Safe, Pledge, DriveCam, etc.)


+ Observes all safety and Company rules and regulations in the performance of duties.


+ Other duties as assigned.




Qualifications


+ BS in Safety Management or other related field


+ 3-5 years of safety and/or risk management experience in a service industry required. Related education and/or training or any equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.


+ Safety certification is preferred.


+ Requires a working knowledge of OSHA compliance, fleet safety, fire safety, labor law and employee relations.


+ Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office products required.


+ Strong communication and training delivery skills are required.


+ A valid driver's license is required.
