Fairbanks Scales Inc. Product Manager in Overland Park, Kansas

Summary

The Product Manager manages the development of products from start to finish to ensure they meet the defined requirements, including both customer needs and business outcomes. This role collaborates with internal departments to co-develop product roadmaps and drive products/projects from concept to launch in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Job Duties

  • Co-develops heavy capacity product roadmaps to meet the product and business strategy.

  • Translates Truck Scale and Rail Scale product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.

  • Partners with sales departments to define the user experience.

  • Collaborates with prospective users and clients to understand and anticipate their needs to translate them into product requirements.

  • Responsible for end-to-end launch of products.

  • Leads the product design process based on an intimate knowledge of the users and technology.

  • Monitors and evaluates progress at each stage of the product development and launch process.

  • Prioritizes and maintains the backlog for assigned products, balancing the requirements of stakeholders.

  • Acts as the subject matter expert for the assigned products and is the key resource for application support for the field Sales and Service teams.

  • Works with cross-functional teams and various stakeholders, including analytics, design/user experience and engineering.

  • Turns data insights into products with actionable outcomes for the customer and business.

  • Continuously reviews the project needs, refines priorities, outlines milestones, sets deliverables, and identifies opportunities and risks.

  • Partners with stakeholders and customers across the organization to inform the product vision, strategy, features, and prioritization.

  • Liaises with the product team and end-users to deliver updates.

  • Develops and maintains appropriate tracking and reporting of product performance post-launch to evaluate future investment.

Required Qualifications - Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.)

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience required.

  • Three (3) years' experience as a Product Manager with heavy equipment preferred.

  • In-depth understanding of market conditions and trends.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

  • Successful track record of developing products within deadlines.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Creative and innovative thinker.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products - specifically Excel, and Outlook.

Work Environment - Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

  • General office conditions. Exposed to moderate noise levels.

  • Travel periodically, nationwide to call on end users, and to manufacturing facilities (includes airline travel).
