Massman Construction Co. Payroll Supervisor in Overland Park, Kansas

General Purpose

The Payroll Supervisor administers and maintains payroll processes, systems and reports, ensures team members are paid on-time and accurately, and ensures proper payroll records are maintained and legally compliant.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Ensures accurate, timely processing of weekly and monthly payroll for union and non-union employees.

  • Processes certified payrolls and related reporting, tracking and managing Davis Bacon wage orders and prevailing wage laws.

  • Maintains and updates payroll software; enters new hires, employee status changes, updates related to deductions, wage garnishments, taxes.

  • Completes relevant quarterly, year-end and other reports for management review.

  • Recommends updates and changes to improve accuracy and efficiency.

  • Processes union paperwork and reports, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Audits payroll and related records for accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Responds to employee pay inquires, and third-party employment and pay verification requests.

  • Maintains secure, accurate and organized records and files, reporting discrepancies.

  • Meets deadlines and responds to time sensitive matters accordingly.

  • Maintains highest level of confidentiality and complies with company policies on ethical standards and business practices.

  • Prepares and files all federal and state payroll tax reports.

  • Assists Human Resources with monitoring benefit deductions and required compliance reporting.

  • Prepares and processes all yearend payroll reports, including W-2’s.

  • Oversees field payroll processing and completes the final submission and payment.

    Qualification Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience processing union and non-union payroll for a construction company.

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of certified payrolls, prevailing wage, union labor agreements, federal, state, and local regulations.

  • General knowledge of payroll taxes.

  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite.

  • Strong math skills and oral and written communication.

  • Must be able to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done.

  • Strong work ethic with integrity and commitment to compliance and team environment.

  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills.

  • Strong investigation and follow-up skills; attention to detail.

  • Vista and HCSS payroll software experience a plus
