IPS is hiring! We are looking for an experienced Mid-West Regional Director of Construction Management Operations who will join our industry leading Construction Management team at our growning Overland Park, Kansas office.
The Operations Director provides development and management of the Regional EPCMV Delivery teams. The Operations Director also provides profitability and risk management through his team’s engagement with the Design Division and Compliance Division for planning and delivering safe, quality and cost-effective construction projects for our clients. In addition, the Senior Operations Director provides support in proposal and presentations. The Operations Director supports Regional Business Unit Leaders in providing best in class project delivery for our clients.
KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the Regional Business Unit Leaders in staffing and providing leadership in overseeing the activities of field operations personnel, including Design Assist, Project Management, Procurement, Project Controls and Construction Managers and Superintendents, on all project delivery projects.
Ensures achievement of safety objectives on assigned projects.
Ensures achievement of corporate goals for assigned projects.
Trains project assignees on good project management techniques and develops skills of all assigned personnel.
Serves as a secondary point of contact for clients while field operations are ongoing and promotes positive relationships.
Protects corporation through application of prudent risk management techniques.
Reviews project prime contracts and develops working knowledge of prime contract requirements.
Supports Project Directors and Project Managers in the development of written preconstruction, construction, and closeout execution plans and works with Director of Quality Operations to review and approve these plans.
Provides resource support to Regional Business Unit Leaders and Regional Project Directors.
Organizes resources and works with the Design Division leadership and Quality Operations leadership to perform design and constructability GAP evaluations as part of the “Construction as a Discipline” quality control peer review process for each project whether built by IPS or not.
Supports Project Directors and Project Managers in the development and maintenance of written project scopes of work.
Coordinates with the Project Services department leads in the development and maintenance of project schedules. Supports Project Directors and Project Managers in the coordination of design, commissioning, and qualification schedule requirements with construction schedule.
Works with Preconstruction and the Estimating team to develop project budgets and works with Regional Business unit leaders to review estimates and project budgets.
Works with Project Directors and Project Managers to forecast final cost of project periodically.
Supports Regional Business Unit Leaders, in the review and approval of subcontracts and prime contracts in accordance with the Limits of Authority. Vigorously protects corporate positions.
Works with Project Directors, Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Superintendents to ensure achievement of contractually required quality in construction.
Works with Director of Safety to develop and maintain corporate safety program.
Endorses site safety and monitors site safety performance for all projects.
Provides support resources in the evaluation of design content for constructability and compliance with basis documents, schedule, and budget.
Supports Project Directors and Project Managers in the negotiation and management of subcontracts and purchase orders, including change control documentation and related financial documentation.
Ensures resources and accountability that IPS staff and trade Subcontractors comply with the requirements of all technical and contractual documents.
Monitors quality of communications between construction sites and the home office recommends corrective actions for communication deficiencies.
Monitors quality of document control and recommends corrective actions for document control deficiencies.
Ensures that all IPS construction activities on project delivery projects comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Supports project/client development process with presentations and related marketing activities.
Supports Project Directors in preparation of project delivery proposals.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS /WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline or an equivalent technical degree.
A minimum of 20 years of experience in Project Delivery or a related discipline. Demonstrate significant experience both in terms of industry knowledge and positions of seniority and leadership.
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY
This position will have 25% travel, or as required by the assigned project. Position may be assigned to client site for an extended period of time. Overnight travel or staying in the city of Client’s location is possible depending on assignment. Please review IPS Travel Policy. Position will visit Client sites and will be required to adhere to stated safety rules. Position will visit construction sights and will be required to take site safety training and adhere to site safety rules.
This position is a safety sensitive position. The employee is considered a field contractor supervisor and acts in a supervisory role for field work. For IPS employees or subcontractors.
