We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our OB/Women's Clinic for a GME residency program. The successful candidate will be responsible for rooming patients, acting as a chaperone for patient exams, assisting as a lab tech with daily blood draws, stocking and turning over rooms, checking and completing the autoclave, removing linens from rooms at the end of the day, and preparing for the next day by organizing patient charts and lab orders. Additional duties include handling prior authorizations and FMLA paperwork.
Responsibilities
Room patients
Act as a chaperone for patient exams
Assist as a lab tech with daily blood draws (5-6 patients on some days, 10-12 patients on others)
Stock and turn over rooms
Check and complete the autoclave
Remove linens from rooms at the end of the day
Next-day preparation (organize patient charts, lab orders, etc.)
Handle prior authorizations and FMLA paperwork
Essential Skills
Medical assisting
Experience in OBGYN and women's health
Phlebotomy
Appointment scheduling
Experience with EMR systems, particularly EcW
Customer service
Medical terminology
BLS certification
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Medical Assistant Diploma (certification preferred but not required)
High School Diploma
At least 1 year of experience working in a physician clinic or specialty clinic
1-2 years of experience performing blood draws
Previous experience in women's or OB clinics is preferred
Strong communication skills and ability to take direct feedback
Work Environment
This position is based at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in an OB/Women's Clinic for a GME residency program. Each day in the clinic varies based on the providers and NPs working. Mondays are busy with a Nurse Practitioner and 1-2 residents seeing 20-25 patients in the morning and fewer in the afternoon. Tuesdays are busy with one surgeon seeing around 30 patients. The patient-to-staff ratio is approximately 10 to 1. The clinic has a great culture, and the team works well together. Due to current short staffing, new hires should be open and flexible for the first few weeks until the team is fully in place.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00
