This position is in Kansas City, MO

Job Duties:

This position is for a Mechanical Engineer in the Advanced Technology Development department, working on developing printed electronics.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides leadership, guidance and technical direction in the project management and capability development of printed electronics

  • Provides detailed instruction toward the design and/or project management of new and current projects, components, and equipment

  • Executes a variety of moderate to complex mechanical engineering assignments, including 3D modeling, software integration, and tool path generation

  • Develops and performs process capability assessments

  • Defines and acquires equipment as necessary

  • Interacts with Centers of Excellence teams, Systems Engineering, Global Security, Program Management and internal product/process teams to mature technologies/capabilities

  • Interacts with and presents to Design Agencies, vendors, and University Partners to mature technologies/capabilities

  • Provides technical direction or assistance in appropriate assigned field(s); evaluates and makes recommendations regarding technological advances that improve productivity and quality

  • Mentors and coaches earlier in career engineers and technicians

    You Must Have:

  • U.S citizenship required in order to obtain and maintain U.S. Department of Energy ""Q"" level security clearance

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited engineering program in Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical, Electrical, Industrial or Aerospace Engineering, or BS Physics from an accredited program

  • Four (4) or more years of experience as engineer in engineering development and/or manufacturing

    We Value:

  • Currently active Q or Top Secret security clearance highly desired

  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Experience interacting with and presenting to multiple levels of technical stakeholders, customers, vendors and suppliers

  • Knowledge and results of continuous improvement methodologies including Six Sigma

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Previous experience with laser technologies and/or additive manufacturing

  • Experience programming or working with G-Code

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making

  • Good people skills; ability to work in and motivate teams to produce on-target and timely results

  • Proven ability to plan and organize, with evidence of strategic thinking

  • Demonstrated excellence in time management and supporting several projects at once
