YRC Freight Manager, Digital Experience Testing & Automation in Overland Park, Kansas

JOB SUMMARY

Seeking a Manager with strong QA fundamentals and prior software testing or automation experience. You will manage a team of QA E2E and automation quality engineers, to improve overall quality and consistency of YRCW’s customer facing digital experiences. This role will be challenged to innovate while balancing both new feature qualification and automation requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Lead, coordinate and manage quality assurance efforts utilizing a mix of internal and contractor labor.

  2. Plan, direct and review the work of assigned staff and contract labor; assign work activities and coordinate schedules, projects and programs; ensure staff and contractors follow test plans, testing workflow and QA processes; review and evaluate work performance and make suggestions and recommendations.

  3. Participate in Agile ceremonies like sprint planning, retrospectives etc. and manage the testing efforts needed.

  4. Review and maintain test cases, evaluate and report quality of existing technologies and new features.

  5. Lead development and support of automation test scripts; run tests and analyze results.

  6. Debug/troubleshoot issues with your team and drive them to resolution by contacting other managers.

  7. Maintain awareness of usability concerns, accessibility requirements and ADA compliance needs, and ensure those considerations are appropriately applied to the testing and certification of experiences.

  8. Recruit software testers, as needed.

  9. Should be detail oriented and acting as a leader.

  10. Demonstrate passionate about YRCW digital and delivering the best user experience to our customers.

  11. May require assisting in A/B testing and optimization efforts.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in IT or Business discipline or equivalent experience.

  2. Six (6) years IT related experience with three (3) of these years in a senior QA role managing teams.

  3. Proficient in various testing methodologies.

  4. Working knowledge of test case management tools.

  5. Proficient in Agile/Scrum methodologies.

  6. Deep understanding of software delivery pipelines in a CI/CD environment.

  7. Proficient in collaborative tools like JIRA, Confluence etc.

  8. Demonstrated analytical, business planning and problem-solving skills.

  9. Demonstrated track record of timely meeting of goals and objectives in a corporate setting.

  10. Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions and seek alternative approaches to problems.

  11. Demonstrated ability to create structure and direction when requirements are vague and scope is unclear.

  12. Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Functional automation testing experience.

  2. Experience optimizing QA processes.

  3. A/B testing or experimentation experience.

  4. Transportation related industry experience.

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
