*Summary: * This position is responsible for managing Logistics Suppliers (primarily depots and transport carriers) for shipments to our customers and/or storage locations in the US market. Management of Logistics includes sourcing and negotiation of new agreements, managing Supplier performance, and ensuring Supplier capabilities are secured consistent with business requirements to deliver the lowest cost possible for the desired level of service.

The Logistics manager will serve as the primary focal point within the business to provide solutions, resolve problems and interface with the sales or other business unit or functional teammates for their assigned responsibilities.

There will be a strong focus on generating OE and cost avoidance, measuring and ensuring Supplier accountability, strengthening Supplier relationships, and improving efficiency of internal processes. Additionally, this role will have responsibility to ensure the agreements are in place timely, and are accurately in the systems to promote efficiency and effectiveness of accurate and timely transactions. This role is a key member of the Highway Logistics team.

  • Source depots, leases, and carriers services consistent with Director of Logistics Hwy direction and company sourcing requirements. Ensure contracts are in place, in compliance, and timely.

  • Drive new OE results through various Logistics initiatives or solutions and supports other supply chain initiatives.

  • Ensures Logistics capabilities are current and in alignment with business and functional requirements;

  • Focal point for Logistics for defined areas, providing solutions, feedback for inquiries and resolving operating issues.

  • Use Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) software to tender and assign orders to carriers.

  • Provides necessary cost information for timely and efficient bidding.

  • Primary lead for Supplier relationships for assigned areas and ensures Suppliers have connectivity to business requirements/forecast.

  • Generates Supplier scorecards, reviews performance with Suppliers to ensure Supplier contribution and accountability. Nominates Supplier for service awards where appropriate.

  • Negotiates all rates and Supplier support information necessary for Suppliers into systems.

  • Identifies and eliminates waste from internal supply chain processes allowing for improved efficiencies and effectiveness.

  • Focal point to freight audit team to ensure that freight validation and payment are working satisfactory for the carriers and to ensure connectivity to development or electronic commerce initiatives.

  • Provides back up to other key Logistics members and performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, PC Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or Logistics; or a minimum of 5-years’ experience working in Logistics, MBA a plus.

  • Familiarization with ERP/Business systems: Order Fulfillment and Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) is preferred.

  • Experience with Enterprise One strongly preferred.

  • Must have strong systems thinking.

  • Sufficient in MS Word, Power Point and Excel. Advanced skills in Excel or Access helpful.
