Honeywell Lead Project Manager in Overland Park, Kansas

In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. This state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing and sourcing facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services primarily for the NNSA. This position will be in Kansas City, MO


• Serves as Lead Project Manager supporting Nuclear Threat Reduction (NTR) and Nuclear Security Enterprise supporting complex program(s) and projects and/or strategic business process development and execution

• Ensures integrated project management processes are aligned with industry best practices and are consistently applied. Leads establishment and management of program risk management program requirements

• Leads analysis and management of programmatic costs; negotiates, evaluates, determines, and executes department projects and programs for complex programs or components

• Supports programmatic reporting development & distribution and collection of lessons learned; Leads, directs, influences, and exercises extensive expertise to resolve technical issues for key projects/programs

• Exercises project management and business processes to meet established cost, schedule, and scope parameters supporting a network of customers and sponsors

• Support a cross-functional team towards timely execution of critical milestones; Leads critical aspects of financial planning, monitoring, scheduling, and reporting, and preparation of technical requirements

• Prepares work plans, technical analysis, and performs first point of contact requirements for technical, administrative, and logistical liaison roles

• Integrates complex customer needs with business competencies to drive growth in existing and emerging markets

• Supports other organizations’ project status evaluations, helps remove team roadblocks, and captures risk; participates in strategic planning and ensures matrix reports for program and engineering requirements

• Represents senior program managers as delegate when required; may assist in selection and development of technical program requirements and development of technical program employees

• Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to """"stop"""" work when an unsafe condition or action is identified.   • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Scientific, or Business-related field

  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in key engineering, manufacturing, and/or program/project management roles

  • US Citizenship needed to obtain and maintain required US Dept. of Energy ""Q"" level security clearance and higher level (SCI) clearance


  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in complex engineering and/or program management processes, principles, and architecture with progressive history of responsibility

  • Master’s Degree and/or PMP Certification

  • Expertise in estimation methods, critical path analysis, and contemporary program management trends and practices

  • Expertise in integrating multiple, complex business and technical/engineering processes

  • History of working with NNSA and NSE laboratories and/or Export Licensing background

  • Experience linking customers, program, finance, engineering, and liaison skills

  • Ability to interpret, negotiate and capture customer requirements

  • Demonstrated customer service actions, tact, and diplomacy

  • Experience working with the Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation or its interagency partners

  • Proven excellence in effective communication, interactive presentations, and negotiation skills

  • Ability to routinely represent program management and company to stakeholders

  • Ability to be company spokesperson for key programs
