POSITION SUMMARY

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will oversee the budget, accounting systems and financial reporting for the health plan as well as provide strategic leadership for the Plan by working with the Executive Team to establish long-range goals, strategies and action plans. The position is also responsible for providing direction for health plan operations with accountability for providing high quality care to the plan enrollees, attaining financial performance and representing the organization to regulatory agencies, employees, Board of Directors and the public.

FUNDAMENTAL COMPONENTS

The CFO will oversee all financial operations for the Kansas Aetna Better Health Plan. Responsible for overseeing the Contractor budget, accounting systems and financial reporting for the program. The candidate should have a solid accounting, financial forecasting/budgeting, financial discipline and medical economics background. Responsibilities include oversight of the accuracy of reported financials, management of expenses and analysis of performance and trends. Position will work with the State and the Board on deliverables, collaborate with local executive team as well as corporate finance and manage the accounting/finance team. Strong communication and teamwork needed for success in a matrix organization. Attention will focus on monthly reporting and projections and strategies to ensure optimal operational growth and performance.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE DESIRED

10+ years of financial health care/managed care experience, preferably experienced with health care plan. -In depth knowledge of government programs including Medicaid and Medicare -Budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting -Trend identification and analysis -Strategic alliances and business partnering.

EDUCATION

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Masters Degree preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Finance/Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is desired
