rPosition, Department: Financial Aid Accounting Specialist, Student Success & Engagement

Type of Position: Full-time Hourly, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 40 hours per week

Pay Range: \$15.95-\$20.31 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Position Summary: The responsibilities of this position include Official Return of Title IV, Post Withdrawals, reviewing daily disbursement to ensure accurate payment of financial aid and working daily, monthly and semester accounting reports. Manage outside scholarship funds of over \$1 million. Perform specialized accounting work requiring specific knowledge of the principles of accounting and financial aid federal regulations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two years of formal post-secondary education or equivalent required, Bachelor\'s degree preferred.
  • Two years of administrative/accounting office experience required.
  • One year of experience with federal aid programs or higher education preferred.
  • Previous computer experience and typing skills required.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as accounting specialist- Monitor daily disbursement report. Responsible for official R2T4 calculations and applicable communication to students. Process daily and weekly accounting reports. Receive and respond to student emails. Receive and process Tuition Reduction forms. Receive and process Notetakers payment requests. Receive and process outside scholarship payments on behalf of students. Work closely with Outside Donors, Business Office, Human Resources, as well as faculty and staff.
  • Performance is acceptable when: a. Disbursement report is reviewed daily and any discrepancies cleared b. Student emails are responded to in a timely manner c. R2T4 and Post Withdrawal is calculated and processed according to Federal Regulations d. Other accounting reports are worked to ensure proper payment of financial aid e. Process reallocations forms for book advances, dining funds, etc. f. Notetaker payment requests are processed in a timely and correct manner g. All outside scholarship checks are processed and paid correctly.
  • Serve as Financial Aid Department representative - Support and assist students with inquiries, questions and problems. Assist with other inter-departmental task and assignments upon request, including but not limited to answering incoming phone calls and assisting at the front desk.
  • Performance is acceptable when: a. Positive and cooperative relationships are established with other members of the department. b. Changing priorities within the department are met with flexibility and adaptability. c. Students receive the service and information needed in a timely and favorable manner. d. Knowledge, judgment, and independent decision making resolving questions, problems, and issues are demonstrated.
  • Serve as Student Services Representative to support and assist students - Assist with other department upon request.
  • Performance is acceptable when: a. Positive and cooperative relationships are established with other members of the ivision. b. Changing priorities within the division are met with flexibility and adaptability.
