SelectQuote Contract Specialist in Overland Park, Kansas

Job Summary

The Contract Specialist at SelectQuote will be an integral part of managing our internal contracting process working with multiple internal departments as well as outside vendors to ensure the process is compliant and efficient. This individual would be responsible for the oversight and management of all corporate level business related agreements and contract as well as every phase of contract development from researching the legal regulations to negotiating the terms and preparing the document.

This role would create, examine and monitor contractual agreements between the organization and partners, including, but not limited to, clear and actionable SLA's and deliverables. This person would have the opportunity to interact with legal, procurement, and managers within the organization to ensure timely and accurate contract preparation and problem resolution.

Essential Functions

  • Manage our internal contracting process (for both vendor and customer contracts), which includes

  • Ensuring contracts are logged into and move through our legal contracting workflow (JIRA)

  • Working with the business (operations, compliance and finance) to appropriately and consistently negotiate like contracts across the enterprise

  • Escalating important issues and working to resolution when such arise

  • Manage the signature (DocuSign) process

  • Ensure all contracts are signed by all parties

  • Ensure all contracts are signed by the appropriate person within SQ in line with our contracting authority policy

  • Ensure all fully executed contracts are organized and saved in our contracting repository

  • Manage and ensure appropriate access by internal stakeholders to our contracting repository

  • Manage and own the contract template

  • Work with the general counsel, compliance and the business to update and/or draft contract templates

  • Appropriately provide access to the contract templates with the business

  • Manage/draft necessary intercompany agreements

  • Work with compliance to ensure that business associate agreements and other regulatory flow down requirements (i.e. TCPA, CAN-SPAM, etc) are included and consistently applied across our vendor base and nothing overreaching is agreed to with customer contracting

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven work experience as a Contract Specialist in a Public Company setting, ability to assess the financial impact of potential and ongoing contracts

  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple complex projects

  • Ability to work proactively and effectively cross functionally including many executives and internal/external stakeholders

  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking, which are absolute Musts

  • Exceptional customer service skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail

  • An ability to prepare and interpret flowcharts, schedules and step-by-step action plans

  • Strong client-facing and teamwork skills

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office

  • Proactive approach to tasks and ability to manage several projects simultaneously and in a timely manner

Training and Experience:

  • 2-3 Years of experience contracting in the insurance space with experience negotiating with insurance carriers is preferred

  • 2+ years of experience in a Public Company setting is a Must

  • Bachelor's degree required, J.D. preferred
