Originates first mortgages and consumer loans secured by a mortgage. Assists in the loan process by verifying information in all loan files, ordering documents needed to complete the files, updating information on the computer system and paying property taxes on escrows in accordance with the company?s policy and procedures and compliance with pertinent regulatory requirements. Promotes the organization and its lending to the real estate community; helps to identify and serve the community?s financial needs through home loan counseling.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm

1. 50% Conducts the loan interview and secures the customer information necessary to initiate a loan transaction. This includes entering the appropriate data into the Loan Origination System with accuracy, and providing all regulatory required disclosures accurately and in a timely manner, and preparing the loan file to give to Loan Processing.

2. 20% Responds to inquiries from prospective customers and provides information regarding all mortgage loan products(including construction loan in applicable Regions), loan policies, Bank underwriting standards and Bank procedures. Includes communicating approvals and denials.

3. 15% Attends and participates in community support programs and CRA activities as directed by management, public concerns and business trends. Meets with community groups on a regular basis to inform them of Bank special financing programs.

4. 5% Reviews loan file and submits for Automated Underwriting. Responsible for knowing AU guidelines, interpreting income, debt, credit, and qualifying ratios, and preparing an accurate commitment letter for the customer.

5. 5% Cross-sells loan customers other Bank products and services.

6. 5% Maintains close relations with others in the banking community, including realtors, title companies and other banking professionals inside and outside the Bank.

Other Skills

Is responsible for a wide breadth of knowledge including, but not limited to: mortgage loan programs including Affordable Housing and Special Financing programs, community and government funding sources which would facilitate Bank Community Reinvestment Act programs, government monitoring requirements, federal mortgage and consumer lending compliance regulations and requirements, and consumer lending policies and procedures of the organization.

Physical Requirements:

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions:

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled private or shared work area with minimal noise. Must be able to travel to complete work.
