- Application Developer III**
Zurich (Overland Park, KS) seeks an Application Developer III to be responsible for configuring, administering and scripting the Websphere Portal application, and developing solution enhancements for the Websphere Portal application platform. The Websphere Portal application team implements, supports, maintains, operates and upgrades Websphere Portal application solutions. Specific duties include: modifying existing software to correct errors; identifying necessary improvement actions by researching best practice, reviewing and analyzing detailed business models, and facilitating “cause and effect” workshops with the business to support senior management in developing and improving IT processes and systems; monitoring relevant service delivery KPIs and supplier performance metrics, analyzing key themes and trends and making recommendations to support operational decision-making and service improvement; assessing complex customer IT issues, leading incident response locally and evaluating the unique needs of local customers by applying technical techniques and know-how to recommend a solution; working closely with business partners to ensure IT services and solutions meet business requirements, and advising senior management to support change through understanding and insight in order to have an impact on local business performance; building relationships with suppliers, support managers in contract negotiation, development and termination, and monitoring supplier delivery to ensure performance levels meet SLA (service level agreements)/contractual obligations and are business and end-user aligned; identifying gaps where technical services are not configured to deliver the required business service levels and working with service owners and suppliers to implement improved solutions; working with the business to ensure disaster recovery capability meets BU requirements, including planning, performance of testing, and setting up IT services at DR sites in coordination with the business; providing advisory services to internal business customers on a daily basis, by being the local focal point of contact for IT issues, and ensuring adherence to DR&BC plans and to the company’s risk and compliance processes; communicating with stakeholders to set proper expectations and properly manage perceptions about sourced services and the sourcing strategy; and supporting the implementation of the organization’s sourcing strategy. Position requires occasional travel within the U.S.
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Professional Application Designer, or similar Java software programmer position. Specific experience must include 5 years with each of the following: designing, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documenting programs; working with implementation lifecycles including SDLC and Agile; working with multiple phases of software systems programming applications; working with multiple programming languages and platforms including Java, SQL, XML, web server, and IBM Websphere; leading software developers; and working with the Insurance domain. Must be willing to occasionally travel within the U.S.
