Garmin Internet Application Developer 1 in Olathe Support Center, Kansas

Garmin is looking for an Internet Application Developer to join our Product Support team in Olathe, KS. This person will be responsible for designing, enhancing and developing single and multi-system applications as part of a structured systems development life cycle (SDLC) process.\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\n\n\n\tProvide “tier 3” application support to Product Support managed software applications\n\tDetermine root cause of reported issues and develop data, application and/or process improvements to address them\n\tDevelop application patches, bug fixes, and enhancements to resolve customer and business issues.\n\tContinually improve requirements gathering, development, documentation and testing processes\n\tDesign and develop web-enabled client-side and server-side applications as part of a structured Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process\n\tDesigns, enhances and develops single and multi-system applications written in Java, C++, C#, Visual Basic, SQL, PHP, PL/SQL or other selected languages\n\tWorks collaboratively and professionally in a team environment to determine general approach and specific solutions to technical problems\n\tReviews complex tasks for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy\n\tDemonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization\n\tPerforms technical root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for given problems \n\tDemonstrates proficient use and knowledge of established standards and procedures \n\tLearns how to use and apply technical tools as needed\n\tThoroughly documents work in an organized manner\n\tWorks collaboratively and professionally in a team environment with other Garmin associates to achieve goals \n\tWelcomes constructive feedback as an opportunity to improve\n\tProfessionally approaches situations in which conflict is present\n\tThoroughly documents work in an organized manner\n\tApplies Garmin’s Mission Statement and Quality Policy and enthusiastically exhibit a desire to see Garmin succeed\n\tMakes substantial contributions to determining feasibility of goals/objectives\n\tResponsible for planning small or medium sized projects\n\tDemonstrated dedication towards continuing to learn and grow\n\tCan identify and resolve basic and moderate complexity tasks without assistance, and complex tasks with minimal assistance from peers\n\tAdheres to team best practices of their own accord\n\tProvides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques \n\tProvides solutions for complex software problems for existing applications\n\tDevelop application documentation and APIs\n EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:\n\n\n\tBachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another relevant field with a 3.0 or higher GPA, plus 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\tOutstanding academics with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge\n\tDemonstrated experience in successful implementation of technology solutions \n\tDemonstrated proficiency writing software in developmental languages (Java, C++, C#, SQL, PHP, PL/SQL)\n\tDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a large team or departmental setting\n\n\nDESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:\n\n\n\tSuperior academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5 as a general rule)\n\tPrevious experience working in a team environment\n\n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
