Kelly Services Warehouse Worker in Olathe, Kansas

Position(s): Warehouse Generalist

As a Warehouse Generalist, you will have the opportunity to be cross trained to work in several different areas of the operation within this automated facility. These work areas will vary daily based on operational requirements.

Works areas included are as follows:

  • Pallet Defoil * Catchweight Capture * Pack stations *IB & OB Dock

  • Case pick to conveyor

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pallet Defoil

  • Must inspect all pallets entering the Defoil area to ensure they are stable.

  • Scan pallet label to ensure that it is the correct item.

  • Remove directed amount of wrap, cardboard corners or other materials from pallet prior to it entering the gantry for layer picking.

  • Secure portion of pallet not designated for layer picking to prevent damage.

  • Dispose of wrap or other materials removed from pallet.

  • Catch Weight Capture

  • Team Member will remove wrap/corners from catchweight pallets.

  • Catchweight cases are then down stacked from pallets on to conveyor line in single file order for processing

  • Team Member will remove cases from conveyor line and scan catchweight bar code on each case to capture the correct weights.

  • All cases are then restacked onto a pallet in the required pallet configuration.

  • Pack Station

  • In this area, Team members will be stacking loose cases from the case pick area onto pallets by outbound order.

  • Team Member receives cases from conveyor, scans the barcode on the case, then proceeds to stack the cases in the designated locations on the pallet, as directed.

  • Once all cases for an order have been scanned and palletized, the pallet is lowered to the conveyor below and wrapped automatically.

  • Case Pickers/Replenishment

  • Team Members will be doing both “Pick to Belt” case picking as well as replenishment. Replenishment will require equipment operation.

  • Team Members must be able to work in temps from 0 – 28 degrees.

  • Case picking tasks are completed by selecting cases from caseflow locations located in the cooler or freezer and then placed on a conveyor belt. No equipment operation is required to complete this work.

  • Team members will scan a location bar code, then scan a 2D bar code on the top of the case and place the case onto the conveyor belt.

  • For replenishment, Team Members will remove a replenishment pallet from the crane drop area and move it to the replenishment aisle.

  • Team members will then apply a 2D bar code label to the top of each case, then scan each case and the required replenishment location, then place the cases into the required location

  • Inbound Receiving

  • Team members assigned to this task will be receiving InBound loads from the customer for processing into the building. Equipment operation is required for this position.

  • Team member will follow all required safety and operational checks prior to starting the unloading process

  • Once unloading begins, Team members will remove pallets from the trailer, inspect for any damages to product or pallets, inspect for mixed product or layers, then ensure the pallets are wrapped and secured properly before inducting them into the automation.

  • Team Members doing receiving are responsible for all IB pallet receiving accuracy, pallet quality and corresponding IB paperwork.

  • Outbound Shipping

  • Team members assigned to this task will be loading OutBound shipments to our customers. Equipment operation is required for this role.

  • Team Members will follow all required safety and operational checks prior to starting the loading process

  • Pallets are sent via automation to the designated outfeed, where the TM removes them, scans the outfeed location, then scans the dock door and loads the pallets into the trailer based on the directed orientation of the pallet.

  • Team members then complete any required paperwork, closes and seals the trailer, removes Trailer Safety Locks, verifies trailer temp and settings and then turns in the paperwork to the traffic desk.

  • Sanitation

  • TM’s in this role will be responsible for all aspects of sanitation inside and outside the warehouse.

  • Examples of tasks are as follows: sweeping docks/dock pits, cleaning in and around the areas of automation, working in temps from 0 – 34 degrees, mopping floors and stairs, cleaning windows, picking up litter outside the facility, power washing, operation a floor scrubber.

  • These TM’s may occasionally work within the operation if needed in areas that they have been trained to work.

Work Environment:

  • Fast paced work environment with, in and around automated machinery.

  • Cold storage environment. Warehouse docks are kept at a constant 34 degrees, High Bay warehouse has cooler space at 28 degrees and Freezer space at 0 degrees. Ability to withstand cold storage temps for extended periods of time (warm gear provided by company).

  • Noise level varies and at times and can be loud.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma.

  • Warehouse experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Proven ability to use basic mathematical skills.

  • Strong problem solving abilities

  • Demonstrate excellent job performance in productivity, quality, safety, and attendance.

  • Work with a sense of urgency to complete tasks safely, effectively and efficiently.

  • Demonstrate complete commitment to a culture of safety. Promote a safe work environment through personal actions and identifying any safety concerns.

  • Treat all team members with a respect while demonstrating positive work attitude and leadership skills.

  • Take initiative to continually improve performance and work processes through feedback, problem solving and generating new ideas.

  • Required Experience: Entry level

  • Pay Rate: $18.50 all shifts

  • Work Schedule: Sun-Tues 6am-6pm, Sun-Tues 6pm-6am, Wed-Fri 6am-6pm, Wed-Fri 6pm-6am
