Garmin User Experience Designer Intern (Summer 2022) in Olathe, Kansas
We are seeking a full-time User Experience Designer Intern for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for learning and applying fundamental usability and user centered design principles to guide software user interface development for various products with different specifications. \n\nEssential Functions \n\n\n\tLearn to research, design and prototype new user experiences for new features, create design mockups, wire framing, and capture interactivity and business logic (required for proper design implementation) with Garmin’s development methodology with guidance\n\tLearn to produce creative, simple and highly usable solutions for how products interact in response to human behavior\n\tLearn to work closely with user experience designers and production artists, software engineers and product managers of the assigned project in determining design directions\n\tLearn to assist with new user interface testing and conduct usability tests to get feedbacks on new designs\n\tLearn to collaborate with and communicate to teams in engineering and product managers to produce superior solutions\n\tLearn to maintain and ensure user interface design and behavioral consistency across Garmin products\n Basic Qualifications \n\n\n\tCompleted coursework in Interactive Design, Human Factors, or a degree with an equivalent curriculum that teaches user centered design principles\n\tExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) \n\tRelevant experience and/or training related to user interface design and behavior\n\n\nDesired Qualifications \n\n\n\tOutstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) \n\tSoftware skills using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Flash or After Affects \n\tArtistic eye for usability design with relation to the mobile platform \n\n\n \n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
