We'll provide you with the necessary training and tools so you can successfully grow within the City of Olathe's Vehicle Maintenance Team. We provide CDL training and other professional skills training.As a Tire Technician you will be a critical member of the team providing customer service including flat tire repair, tire replacement, tire rotation, and tire evaluation on the City's diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment. Services may be performed both on the road as service calls and in the shop as repairs and maintenance. Duties also include the preparation of new vehicles for service and the decommission of old vehicles and preparation for auction. Inspect, repair, and maintain all tires and tubes on city units; perform road and field services as required. Requisition all necessary materials and equipment needed to perform tire maintenance, repair, and replacement, to include various tires and specialty equipment. Complete various reports including work orders to document downtime and in service usage. Help supervisors with the purchasing of bids on tires and obtaining tires and supplies for the most economical prices and timely delivery. Control and maintain tire shop inventory. Complete inspections on new units, stripe, and decal as needed, help with the set-up of special needs such as linex, toolboxes, etc. Help Vehicle Maintenance Superintendent with the auction list of decommissioned vehicles and prepare said vehicles to be sold. Implement the safety culture of the department; ensure the adherence of safe work practices and procedures; ensure compliance of Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.Experience: Entry level, would prefer 1+ years of experience in tire repair or related field.Experience in or possesses the ability to learn materials, methods, practices, and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of tires and other automotive equipment, to include basic mechanical aptitude. Basic computer knowledge and experience preferred.Education: High school graduate or GEDLicense and Certificate: Must have a valid driver's license with a favorable driving record and the ability to acquire a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement within 6 months of employment. Assistance in obtaining your CDL provided.Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, hour lunchPay: Biweekly*Must successfully pass a background investigation, pre-employment physical, and drug screen*The Vehicle Maintenance Team:Our team consists of 27 Vehicle Maintenance employees who maintain more than 1,300 pieces of equipment from other City departments including Infrastructure, Fire, Police, Sanitation and Parks & Rec. The team includes technicians, a tire shop, parts room and administration staff.Job location: 1385 S. Robinson Drive in Olathe, Kansas
