Olathe Medical Center Student Nurse Intern in Olathe, Kansas

Job Summary:

We welcome you to join the Olathe Health team as a Student Nurse Intern . The nurse intern position prepares student nurses for the registered nurse (RN) role prior to graduating from an accredited nursing program and obtaining nursing licensure. This position is intended as a supplement to school clinical experiences. Nurse interns provide direct and indirect care for assigned patients under the direction and supervision of an RN and in alignment with organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School or GED Minimum

  • Other: Enrollment in an accredited nursing program and completion of a "Fundamentals of Nursing" or "Med/Surg" course. Minimum

  • Previous Healthcare Experience Preferred

  • Healthcare Provider CPR – (American Heart Association or American Red Cross ONLY) Minimum 7 Days

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality care to an assigned group of patients, under the direct supervision of an RN.

  • Assist with tests and procedures.

  • Performs patient rounds and answer call lights immediately, using excellent customer service techniques. Promptly reports any unusual incidents and/or any changes observed in condition or behavior of patient to the RN preceptor.

  • Utilize the nursing process to work in collaboration within the healthcare team, implementing and documenting individualized plans of care, incorporating age-specific considerations, discharge planning, and patient/family teaching.

  • Identify and report potential or actual concerns, medical errors, and/or near misses that could impact patient, visitor, or associate safety.
