Garmin Software Engineer - Algorithms & Sensors Team in Olathe, Kansas

Come join a team that brings Garmin’s devices to life. We are looking for a full time Software Engineer who wants to work with sensors and develop algorithms. You’ll use low level busses like I2C, UART, and SPI to receive information from the hardware. With that information you’ll work with the product teams to develop unique algorithms to include in Garmin products\n\n \n\nThe Sensors & Algorithms Software Engineer will also:\n\n\n\n\t\n\tImplement new sensors\n\t\n\t\n\tDesign, Implement, test, debug, release and maintain algorithms in products (written in C, C++ and/or Python)\n\t\n\t\n\tCoordinate closely with electrical engineers and vendors to integrate externally developed deliverables into projects as well as provide technical feedback in discussions on roadmaps and component selection for future platforms\n\t\n\t\n\tPerform advanced technical research on new technologies with electrical engineering and develop prototypes to demo the new technology with the team\n\t\n\t\n\tMay perform as a Technical Lead or Lead Low-Level Software Engineer for software development projects\n\t\n\t\n\tCollaborate and adds value through participation in peer code reviews and technical assessments in areas of expertise, providing comments and suggestions to support software designs and new technologies\n\t\n\t\n\tAssist design engineering as needed with component datasheet review and schematic design review\n\t\n\t\n\tOffer process improvement suggestions and authors new procedures as appropriate\n\t\n\t\n\tMentor and/or supervise less experienced Software Engineers ( Software Engineer 1 & Interns)\n\t\n\n\n\n Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Science, Computer Science, Geomatics or Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Math or Physics or a technical field (such as CIS or IT) from a four-year college or university AND a minimum of one-year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher. Other requirements include: \n\n\n\n\t\n\tMust possess a minimum 1 year of work experience writing software in C / C++\n\t\n\t\n\tExperience or strong desire to work with sensors and write algorithms utilizing sensor data\n\t\n\t\n\tStrong quantitative / math / physics knowledge\n\t\n\t\n\tStrong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills\n\t\n\t\n\tDemonstrates proficient knowledge and utilization of engineering tools necessary for successful performance of the essential functions of this job description \n\t\n\n\nDesirable Qualifications:\n\n\n\tKalman filtering\n\tInertial sensors\n\tSensor fusion\n\tMachine learning\n\tDSP (digital signal processing)\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n \n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
