Garmin Postgres DBA in Olathe, Kansas

We are seeking a full-time Postgres Database Administrator for our headquarters in Olathe, KS. In this role, you will be responsible for performing and planning management and administration of technology in area of specialty while working with team members to ensure technology is effectively supporting enterprise systems.\n\nEssential Functions \n\n\n\tInstall, Configure and administer Postgres database servers. \n\tPerform upgrades of the database and software to new release levels and handle database migrations. \n\tCreate backups and maintain recovery policies and procedures. \n\tWork with IT Manager to establish\maintain database security structures, encryption, and SOX compliance procedures. \n\tCreate and manage database schema objects including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggers. \n\tConfigure and administer database replication between servers, across Local Area Network and Wide Area Network for high availability and disaster recovery. \n\tPerform database tuning, coordinate application releases, and troubleshoot database issues including slowness and latencies. \n\tAnalyze existing database systems and recommend improvements. \n\tBuild the automation scripts for managing database infrastructure. \n\tContribute to technical research on new technologies, processes or procedures. \n\tWorks with team members to ensure technology is effectively supporting the enterprise.\n Basic Qualifications \n\n\n\tBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience\n\tPostgres Databases of various versions\n\tImplement database high availability solutions using steaming replication (Patroni)\n\tAdditional data platforms such as MySQL, Cassandra, SQL Server, Redis, Kafka, or Oracle\n\tDatabase upgrade and migrations\n\tMonitoring, backup and recovery tools\n\tDatabase performance tuning\n\tAutomation scripts using Bash/Python/Ansible for managing database infrastructure. \n\tDemonstrates ability to solve moderately complex technical problems independently\n\tDemonstrated experience in successful implementation of technology solutions\n\tDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting\n\tConsistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization\n\n\nDesired Qualifications \n\n\n\t\n\tOutstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) \n\t\n\n\n \n\nGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
